Hi guys .. 12 weeks pregnant and I've caught the most irritating dry cough ever ! I cough so much it makes me gag not helping with sickness at all it's keeping me up at night and sure it's no good for baby me coughing every few minutes .. My partner keeps telling me to go to the doctors but I feel it's a waste of time as they can't give me anything .. I went into the chemist and baught a lemon and honey based natural medicine but it's not helping .. Any one know any natural remedies that could help?? Thanks in advance.xx

If I were you I'd ring the Drs. Some nasty bugs going round but antibiotics clearing up some, and safe in pregnancy.

As for natural remedies, most haven't been tested properly so be careful xx

You could try putting a bowl of water on the window sill to help humidify the air. Buttercup syrup is good. I think it contains a tiny amount of alcohol but won't do any harm to you or baby. And keep on with the honey and lemon drinks. If you can stomach them have boiled sweets to suck to keep your throat wet and drink plenty x

You can take some cough medicines (tje non drowsy stuff) to be honest when I was pregnant with my first I was up all night, couldn't eat and being sick for over a week and doc wouldn't see me. I coughed that bad I fractured a rib (which is rare so don't worry) and the doctor refused to see me saying they couldn't help.

I agree some Drs do nothing but I got medicine for my chest infection, so no harm in asking.

I agree with sucking sweets too...helps keep calories up when being sick!

X
