not doing anything special tho, just staying at home (first time we have stayed at home, we've always gone to relatives houses)
Kai was nearly 1 last year and we of course got him too much stuff and with his birthday close by got even more things.
They are too young to understand what is going on, and I would just get a few things and wrap them up and maybe get a special outfit for the photos angle.
Halloween is big here and we probably won't do a thing.
Were not doing too much for Halloween this year, next year I'll let him have a mini fancy dress party and invite the little ones in the village to join him - we do have him a costume though (little pumpkin) and will do cards to send to close family etc.
With Christmas it's going to be an all out decoration job, all new decorations and were having a session with a photographer to remember it all. I'm looking forward to dressing up the house, dressing up LO as a mini Santa (need to find a nice Santa outfit!) and so forth. Were having family round for dinner on Christmas day...and I hope to take him to have a photo done with a Santa in the mall too!! I've already started stocking up on his stocking fillers!!
Halloweeen has religious connotations for us, so it is made to be a big ritual... always has been, even Tia's first.. I make her robes every year and she dresses up as a witch... we have remembrance time, photos out of all the people who have died in our family, light a candle for them... then I always get her to draw a picture of things that make her sad or scared and we burn them in the cauldron. Then we have pumpkin cookies, and sweeties, and watch a movie in keeping with the Halloween spirit... like Harry Potter or Nightmare before Christmas.
Then we make a fairy wish for the new year and put it in our fairy jar... the following year we take it out and see if it was granted... If you think this is nonsense... Tia wished for a cat two years ago, and in June the following year my friend's cat died 2 weeks after having a litter of 8 kittens... We took 2 off her hands to hand rear them, we were going to give them back, but we fell in love.. So she got her wish times 2...and she's been making lots of fairy wishes for a little baby sister...and the baby was a boy and now suddenly is a little girl... its so creepy...
