Hi

My 9 month old is taking at least 45 mins for his feeds (breastfeeding), sometimes what must be an hour or more. It's like dealing with a newborn again!

During the day he is quicker but we have a lot less feeds.

How long does it take other babies this age? Anyone experiencing the same thing/have any advice?

Sorry TC, I can't offer any words of wisdom as Bee has actually decreased her feeds quite significantly. She has about a 10 minute feed before bed now. She still has several daytime feeds but again they are short and sweet. She wakes for 1-2 short feeds in the night as well.

Is he definitely feeding and not just wanting the comfort? Where Bee has been poorly of late she has been on boob a lot more but not because she is actually hungry.

I was gonna say the same - is he actually feeding?

My lo takes no more than 10 mins at most in the day but at night he would feed for comfort and id fall asleep (we co sleep and I feed him lying down). I had to stop falling asleep though and take him off as it was causing me vasospasms when he let go and I was left exposed cos I was asleep. He doesn't wake up when intake him off and it doesn't bother him. If he tries to latch on again I let him in case he is still feeding and try again in five ten mins.

He appears to be feeding.. just very slowly.. and if I interrupt him to stop he starts rooting and waking up getting upset about where it's gone.

I keep falling asleep in the chair it's taking that long!

(The other night he started feeding when the supermoon eclipse was just a thin crescent in the sky, and when he finished the moon was nearly whole again - so much for my missed photo opportunity! :) )

I guess I might ask the health visitor then :(
