Sorry I've put it in here for more views and help hopefully.

Melanie did receomend me some slings ages ago - but I've forgot the name!!

Basically me and Arianna will be going to Houston in Oct/Nov time, but travelling by ourselves and meeting Brian there as he has a course and he will be going from the rig in Venezula o the office in Houston.

I love flying but always stress at connections, and I thought it would be easier to take Arianna in a sling rather than have her buggy to carry - my in-laws have a buggy there we can use at the otherside.

Which do you receomend?!?!?!

i was gonna get a baby carrier but my oh dad said no point. seen a woman today with one and im like do i really need one of those or what

Well im always going to say yes to that question! Everyone needs a carrier! You get more done, your baby is happy and that makes you happy.

I've used my pushchairs the grand total of 8 times (and i have two) because Thea and I are happier babywearing!

Thanks Melanie...

Do you know if I can still use them in Airports after the terror attacks - my SIL seem to think they are banned. as you could be hiding something in it - I think she is talking rubbish - but thought you would know what with travelling back from Budapest

Our members get a 10% discount with slingjax, pm me if you're interested, I'm still sorting it.

By the way, I'm gonna move this to General Discussion. Sorry but I moved another baby topic earlier to the Health Section and it's not fair if I let some people do it and not others.

I understand you get more replies in here, BUT the problem is only going to get worse if people keep using Off Topic for baby related questions.

Sorry, we are cracking down on this a bit as Off Topic is getting filled up with baby stuff, and that's not what it's for.

I flew to and from Budapest in the last week with Thea in a sling with no problems at all. In the UK airport i had to agree to have Thea checked by a women officer but all they did was feel around her in the carrier and then i was on my way. It was much quicker for me than for the lady in front of us who had to take her baby out of his pushchair fold it up and put it through the scanner. They were totally fine with our MT and as it visibly has now metal at all in it they know that it shouldn't set an alarm off. If you need it though i can give you instructions on how to tie a MT so that baby pops in and out easily without untying everything just in case you have to take her out.

Oh that would be great Melanie!!

And thanks Urchin for the discount info - will have a looky soon.
And sorry for posting here!! I'll slap my own hand!!

I have a baby bjorn carrier and find it useful just hanging the washing out and getting bits done round the house ..I don't use mine much when out as i have backache still from pregnancy

I love my sling (I have 2 wrap type ones) I still use it with lily even though shes 14 months.

I went shopping on Friday and she still loves it, so much easier then a buggy and having people cutting in front of you :x

I brought a travel system and proberly used it like Melanie about 5 times, I then brought a normal buggy to use at haven for lunch times and it only gets an outing when I go to mums and tots (a 2 minute walk so no point in the sling) or when Neil comes into town with us as he likes to push her and miss's out when I use the sling :)

oh i like my carrier for the supermarket as well as those trolleys where you put car seat in i can't see a thing.

and i don't have to worry about leaving the trolley at the bottom of a crowded isle

is it easy enough with a bigger child as Arianna will be that age when we fly.

Slings are great for any age! My friend still reguarly carries her 2 yrs old and her 3 year old - sometimes both at the same time ( 1 back 1 front!)

Sorry Sarah I ment to reply ages ago.

Yes it's still really easy to carry LO at that age, although I'd advise outward facing position or hip carrying, as I've found with lily that if she facing inwards her feet daggle between my legs when I walk and get caught which can get quite sore and bruise (but lily does have quite long legs)
