So three weeks late but here is my birth story.
Planned Csection went ahead on the 24th March 2014 due to a low lying placenta. I was 38+1 and I think they chose this date as I had both my girls at 38 weeks and one of those was a rapid labour so they didn't want to risk an emergency situation.
I went down to theatre and totally freaked out so requested some gas and air to calm me. I took a few gulps on that and they gave my local but then with the spinal block I felt my leg twitch it was just a reaction I couldn't control but everyone was very firmly saying I had to stay still. Having got myself quite quickly high I asked for someone's to hold my shoulders so I could lean on them. Spinal done and the usual checks take place.
People have said you can feel a kind of rummaging going on but I wasn't prepared for the pressure I felt in my belly it really was weird. I'd asked for them not to tell me the sex of the baby but to show hubby so he could reveal it. I heard the surgeon say the head is born then heard a cry at the same time I literally felt the body come out (again so weird, no pain but a feeling of release) then I heard hubby say its a boy but about half a second later saw that for myself ( I think they forgot my request so glad hubby got in there just in time). I cried like a baby but could feel my belly jiggling around like jelly with the sobs and realising I was still opened up decided to change my cry from a sob to a wail ( sounded like a wounded animal but it was wails of happiness). They took Roy off to be checked and cleaned which I didnt like as it was actually in a completely different room I could hear him crying. They finally bought him over and I fell in love!!!! I then felt a bit sick which I was warned could happen due to blood pressure so hubby took Roy and I had something to stop nausea. Then hubby and Roy went off to recovery room while I was sewn up and I joined them about ten minutes later for my first breast feed and some skin to skin.
Next day the midwife tried to get me up for the loo and I was in so much pain I said u couldn't I knew it was more than what your normal Csection pain should be but she insisted I could and I got about ten steps from my bed before I was crying with the pain and they had to get a wheelchair to get me back to bed. They did some bloods and checked my wound and it turned out I had an infection. I had about 30 hours if IV antibiotics and it took five days before I could walk without crutches. On the mend now and home with my beautiful family. Xx
