Well thought I would write Leo roberts birth story before I forget the details!!
It all started on tuesday the 11th when I went to hospital for reduced movement, they monitored Leo and found his heart rate kept dropping, they wanted to induce me right away but agrees to allow me to come back in on the weds morning for induction.
Wednesday at 7.30am we arrive at the hospital, even though I had been having contractions last week and had got to 4cm they inserted a propess rather than break my waters as they wanted to see if that would get labour started again.
Thursday at around 2am I start getting contractions, nothing overly painful. At 5am I asked for some paracetamol. Examined at 12pm and no progress so they broke my waters. Contractions came thick and fast but they were not showing on the monitor at all so I had to ask 5 times for co codamol- I think they thought I was being a wimp!
3pm and I tell them again that baby won't be long and I need to be taken to delivery, they eventually decided to take me down at just before 4pm where I instantly start on the gas and air and tell my midwife (fantastic lady, really can't praise her enough) that I want an epidural. Pain was so bad and I was getting the urge to push so she examined me at 4.20pm and said I was only 5cm but got the anaesthetist and had the epidural at half 4.
Epidural didn't work at all, I got pins and needles in my left foot but could feel everything else despite having the max dose.
4.45pm and she asks me to lay on my left as babies heart rate was dropping again, as soon as I moved I felt the uncontrollable urge to push, I kept saying sorry for doing what I thought was about to be a big poo! She told me she could see his head but I didn't believe her!
I then had the most horrendous contractions and urge to push and couldn't stop myself and baby Leo was born at 17.09pm weighing 6lb 12oz.
He is absolutely perfect, I was up and dressed and ready to go by 7pm and they let us all leave at 8.45pm.
