I'm getting worried because I have the impression that my baby of 8,5 months doen't respond to his name yet. I know he can hear because he responds to sounds a lot, and he pays a lot of attention when I sing to him... But I'm not sure if he responds to his name when I talk to him or if he's just reacting to the sound of my voice.

This evening both me and my boyfriend kept callng his name while he was playing and got no response at all. He also had a huge tantrum earlier tonight and wouldn't be consoled until he got a nap, then he was happy again. I guess that's tiredness but I'm gettitng really worried that these might be signs of autism or some developmental delay...

My son liked to ignore us at that age too. In fact, at 1 he still does it! I don't think it's necessarily something to be worried about, he probably does recognise his name but isn't deigning to speak to you!

My eldest is 4 and has autism. He is non-verbal, he has never said a word. He has always looked when we call his name from around 8-9 months old. He may not have looked first time if he was busy but he definitely knew his name as a baby. Hopefully your LO is just a little late recognising his name? Do keep an eye on it though.

Does he make decent eye contact? Eye contact is probably more important at such a young age, make sure you are at his level when talking and playing with him to see if he makes good eye contact with you. Again my Son has always made very good eye contact with people he knows but he refuses to look if he is around strangers or is feeling uncomfortable.

I honestly wouldn't worry too much at your Son's age but just continue to be aware of your concerns and contact your HV if you need advice. Hopefully it's worry for nothing :) xx
