i am looking for a carrier.

I would like one of the backpack-y like ones as when i tried on the one sholder they just didn't work for me.

My hubbie is 6 ft 4, i am 5 ft 4 so need some adjustability.

Really want lumbar support and prefer one that will last up until quite a high weight (want to migrate to Australia when baby a few months old so would use sling for flight).

I have tried on a baby bjorn active and loved it, but it is sooooo expensive (even on ebay).

Can anyone else suggest one they have used with features, the weight it goes up to and how easy it is to get on and off and if you don't mind the price.

thank you

Sandi

idk but i do think its probably worth spending a little more to get a really decent comfy one. my mum got me this one and altho its very handy when i wanna nip to the shop across the road or the postbox and i dont wanna take the pushchair, it has been uncomfortable after 5 or 10 minutes since fairly early on, she starts feeling loads heavier than she is and i get backache. she's too big for it now too at 9 months as shes over 19lbs.

hav u asked melanie, she is our resident baby-wearing-o-holic!

i saw a couple in iceland with an older baby (over 1 i thought) in like a big purple rucksack, with a frame around the bottom and a baby carrier built into the top. it looked quite fun! and altho it looked massive and heavy, neither of them looked like they were struggling to carry it. sorry thats no help is it as i dont kno what it was called! hope u find something :)

thanks Trixi, i had been looking at the 4 way carrier in the same brand but if the two way doesn't work i wont risk the 4 way.

I've tried on the bjorn at the baby show a few weeks ago and it was really comfortable, oh well pay day on tuesday so it gives me something to spend my money on!

I've been looking for OH's sister and the Pikkolo looks really good. Not any cheaper though, I don't think. I've bought a wrap as I want good support on my back.

Fabric slings are a fantastic option for newborns given it allows them to become carried tummy to help tummy, kangaroo fashion, or in the cradled position for that youngest of toddlers. Fabric slings are adjustable to allow for smaller babies, and they come in different styles and numerous options.
