I am sorting out the last few bits and bobs for baby and i am unsure what bedding and how much bedding i will need.

I have a cotbed which although she wont be in for a while i wanted to kit it out ready. What sort of bedding (flat/fitted sheets/blankets/cellular) and how much will i need of each.

Sorry if it sounds a silly question. Thanks in advance :D

Isaac has a cot bed and I've always had 2 sets of bedding at any one time. One on the bed and one in the wash but tbh Isaac wasn't a sicky baby atall, infact he's only been sick twice, but if he had been a bit sicky I would have bought more bedding. I had 2 fitted sheets, they are more expensive but they stay nice and flat so you don't have to worry about it coming loose and maybe going over babies face. I had a grobag for Isaac so he didn't need any covers as such, he just had a top sheet and a fleece blanket for really cold nights.

Grobags are an absolute god send! They save on bedding and theres no worries they will get cold or get covers on their face.

I spent quite a lot of money buying bedding for Dylan's crib...tons of blankets etc and have hardly used any because he slept with his shawl from birth, then since about 5 weeks he has used grobags (I think the real Grobags are the best).

I haven't bought anything for his cotbed yet and I'm glad because I know I won't go overboard now.....I'll buy 2 sets, probably 3 fitted sheets and keep the blankets etc I bought. I suppose what I'm saying is don't buy too many things before you know what your baby is going to sleep in or you'll end up with too many blankets!

Like lou said, I've always had 2 sets of bedding for Isaac at least. So I'd suggest 2 fitted/flat sheets (I prefer fitted, wriggly babies and flat sheets don't mix hehe) and 6 cellular blankets. I have 3 ready for Isaac each night as one goes on him when he first goes to bed but that's usually all crumpled up somewhere at our bedtime, so I pop the other two on him then, he seems happy enough.
Isaac always goes to bed in his grobag though as he is a cover kicker, but we have a very cold bedroom so the blankets are reassuring. Remember that a folded blanket is classed as 2 blankets too. I prefer cellular blankets because they have holes in them, as Isaac loves pulling covers over his face, as many LO's do :)

I use a sleeping bag and it's great. Finlay doesn't like his hands confined under blankets so it's perfect fo him. We have a couple of blankets too for around and about or if he's sleeping during the day. I guess a cotbed sheet should be fine - he's still in his moses basket so I've got a moses basket sheet and covered it with a fleece blanket which is tucked under because the moses basket mattress is cold and plasticky.
