Both myself and OH are a little concerned about bathing our LO when he arrives, and having heard about seat-like baths, where LO is sat and held by the bath, rather than by just you, sounds very reassuring to us both, especially OH who's going to do most bathtimes for his special bonding time with LO, he's going to take him swimming too, anyways, anyone any idea of what bath to buy to accomplish this, as slippery LO is something on our minds heehee

I have seen those bucket type baths, which babies apparetnyl love, but I think something that doesn't look like you could knock it over is more safe for us to start with, thankyou in advance

Have you looked in Mothercare, they offer different types of support that can be used in the 'big bath' or in a baby bath, something like:

They have various ones you could consider, I have bought one along with the standard baby bath/stand (came seperate but these two combined):

Thankyou Nicola
We're liking the idea of the bath tub support, which combines both the ergonomic shape and non-slip, so there's a holding factor and non-slippy, all good stuff :D

Hi! We have this

with this inside

It definately helps alot to keep Brody in place when he gets slippery and wriggly! This is him showing it off! :D

I saw this bath support in one of the Mamas & Papas stores, but didn't think it was worth the money as it's only suitable up to 6 months. However, now that I've seen your pic of Brody lying on it, he looks so comfy and relaxed, I am now considering buying one. Thanks!

BTW, if I was to use this M & P bath support with a baby bath, do you know if it would fit a standard one, or only the M & P one?

I had that bath support for Jack and was wonderful, dunno how i coped with out it with Emily!!
Deff worth the money 6months is a guide to when they can sit up :)

Ooops sorry I have only just seen this! To be honest I'm not sure if the support fits a standard baby bath-it'd be nice if it did as 16 quid for a baby bath is a bit asteep in my opinion! It is a lovely big bath though! :)
Sorry I can't help!

We have got this one:

I did some major research into them. This one is made my Tigex and it got really good reviews on quite a few websites I look at.
http://www.ciao.co.uk/Reviews/Tigex_Bab ... t__5346415

We have got a regular baby bath which it fits in, but will probably end up using our kitchen sink as it is one of the big belfast sinks.

The sponge one is no good, my sister got this and it just fills with water and sinks and didn't offer any support at all.

One of my friends got one of the ones like a bucket, but could only use it for the first two months. Her baby just screamed and screamed... it wasn't till she took her swimming and saw how she loved to move around in the water she realised it was because she felt so constricted in the bath and could not move her arms or legs.

Know what you mean about bath time. My sister was such a bag of nerves, she used to ask me to be there when she bathed my neice as her husband was at work. She has put me off totally as she was so hysterical about it. The sponge support she had really didn't help and the bath she had balanced across the top of the bath and constantly looked like it would fall off. So I have spent a long time researching better options to make sure it is a much calmer experience for our little one....

its fab!!!

We just bought that one so I'm glad you're finding it useful!

Last time we bought a baby bath which sits on top of the bath so you don't have to lean over too far, but to be honest I hated it - Maddie was far too slippery and I hated only having one hand free to wash her.

Thankyou everyone, some great advice there, really appreciate it
I don't like the sound of those that sit over the bath  would worry about it falling over too, I'm sure we can now feel very happy and confident bathing our LO with all those great links to choose from, thankyou :cheer:
And jools, Brody looks very content indeed in his bath pic, thankyou for sharing it

ive found it great at different stages, in the early stages i cudnt hold her and i was scared of dropping her wtih my scar being so sore if i moved the wrong way...

and now its fab coz she is all wriggly, so when im tryin to wash her hair i put her n the chair so much easier lol

I saw the Tigex one in Mothercare today, and it felt very sturdy. There was a label on it that said that it's recommended and used by many maternity units. I like the idea that it will fit into a standard baby bath, as the Mamas & Papas bath is really expensive! Thanks!

although i didnt use one , so i dont know how good they are, they have one on offer in argos at the moment, i saw it today. :D

The one Jools posted up i just bought in Asda for £9 thought you ladies might wanna know :D

Oo and they also had mosquito nets for cribs/prams/travel cots and buggys for £1.50 :cheer:
