Can I take my babies temperature using a normal thermometer and putting it in uner her armpit or in the fold of her neck?

I wouldn't use a glass thermometer if I were you. If you've got a plastic one it's okay.

With a tiny baby you might be able to use one of those strip thermometers that you hold across the forehead.

Otherwise, invest in an ear thermometer.

We had a strip one, but Alice won't stay still long enough for it to work. At the weekend she felt warm to me, but the strip said she was in the normal range. When we took her to the doctor it turned out she was at 39°C (102.2°F) - which was a bit of a fright!!

I was in Argos at the weekend and they have an ear thermometer for £19.99 - think I'm going to get one when I'm next in there, after all that's what the docs and hospitals use.

We have a strip one and cheap digital one you can put under their arm or tongue but I don't find either very accurate.

It is a plastic digital one that i have got. Thanks for the link.

Love the idea of a pacifier thermometer, but when Alice was ill she wouldn't accept a pacifier...
