Hi mums,
Just a quick question that is probably impossible to answer definitively, but my sister is coming around to see my two-week-old tomorrow and has just text saying she has a cold and is concerned she might pass it on to the little guy.

Is that a risk worth taking?

Thanks!

erm... might be worth you sis visiting a few days later?
I imagine it will be dissapointing though :(

It's really down to you. I've stayed away from my two friends who've had babies in the last 3 weeks because I've had a stinking cold but of course I won't be able to stay away from my baby when it's born. I think as a first time mum I was a lot more cautious and would have preferred people to stay away but this time I think so long as it's only a mild bug then I won't mind as much.

So like I say I think it really comes down to how you feel.

I have noticed with my children at least that new babies tend not to catch colds as easy! Im surrounded by colds and flu and bugs at the min and cant do nothing about it! So far (and touch wood) baby seems to have not got anything and I dont remember my others getting poorly in the first few weeks!
I could be wrong though, could just be a coincidence! I would say its down to you! Same as what Becky said really! :D

Angel had a cold at 2 weeks. She dealt with it really well. It was inevitable as none of us had it. It's just one of those things.

Aimee got the cold when she was 2 weeks old. She was alright. My HV told me that it was good she had it as it built up her immune system. She got it again at 4 weeks and again at 9 weeks.

If your wee fella gets it, get some nasal drops. They work a treat.
