Avatar issues...am I being blonde!!!?

I found an adorable picture today that i was hoping to use for my Avatar, i'm not the best when it comes to all things technical so not surprised i'm having a prob putting it on...
I went to the bit where you browse and upload form machine but it kept saying had to be a certain size - how do i make it smaller?! Help!! (its just saved on my desktop at the mo....)

I couldn't do it either So sorry I'm not really much help!!

But Urchin did mine for me I'd just posted in here staying that I couldn't do it & with the link for the pic & luckily for me she did it

Have you tried uploading it to something like photobucket?? I'd managed that bit, & I’d got the link thing, but from what she said I forgot to press the img button when inserting it?!? (its all gobbled goop to me, yep I’m blonde too)

Since she did it for me I’ve not dared mess, & end up loosing it

Thank you Mrs U, after a lot of messing around i managed to get it to like the picture & let me have it Go me!! haha (although its lots smaller - and black & white - than i 1st tried so may've been too big or something...)
