Attention mums of 2+

Was the birth with your second quicker or not? As you can see from my ticker we are TTC again in a couple of months (want to see a consultant about my prem birth risk first) but Damiens birth was only 5 hours active labour (from 3cm to him arriving). I am just worried the second one will be even quicker. The midwife who was with me when I had D said it would be quick as I'd had 2 m/c's and I dilated 3-7cm in less than half an hour, and was fully dilated within 3 hours, trying to push for 2 hours (my contractions slowed down to one every 5/10mins) It was so quick and intense I wasn't in control and had no time to relax through it.

Any advice? Thanks x

My labour was a lot better than my first:-

Amy 29 hours
Jack 8 Hours!!!

I went into labour naturally with Jack to, i was induced with Amy. Your body knows what to do with itself the 2nd time round

that's the other thing which worries me, the second time you don't efface before dilating - which 1, could make the birth much faster, and 2, could make baby arrive earlier :?

oh i don't know about that!

I'd speak to someone first hun just to put yor mind at rest.

My friend had her first baby 3 weeks early but her 2nd needed to be induced as she was 2 weeks late!! lol

If it's of any comfort Sami -My older sister was on time, I was 6 weeks early and my younger sister was 2 weeks late - Not all women who have a premature baby will have all their babies premature. It could have been an infection that induced Damien. It's just one of those things....I don't think even your Consultant wil be able to offer you any guarentees as to when your next baby will arrive.

My labour with Ky was 4 hrs and 30mins - God help Paul on the long drive to the hospital should we have another!

i was sent home at 10.30am because i was only 2cms dialated and eva was born at 2.30pm!!

I think mine was 3-4 hours

Damien was born early as my cervix was useless basically, I was contracting from 27 weeks and in slow labour from 33 weeks, my waters went at 34 weeks but there was no infection (had swabs every week sometimes twice a week from 27 weeks). I am wondering if they will stitch me?

It is good to know that women still go full term later, I really hope I do next time!

my labours went like this..

Charlie - 12 hours
Ethan - 6 hours
Coby - 3 hours

they all seemd to half but double in pain, so im dreading this one! lol

good luck in TTC, im soo excited for you!!!

Layla you'll cough and this one will shoot out!!

My cousin had 3 babies 1 born at 21 weeks (but was too small to survive)
1 born at 24 weeks and she is ok but she has cerebal palsy and they put a stitch in her cervix for a 3rd but he was born at 27 weeks anyway!

It works for some but not for others

Mason 24 hours
Brody about 6 hours, I went from 4cms to 10cms in about 20 minutes!!

Not good news about the stitch, 27 weeks is better though, every day counts.

Looks like I'm facing a quicker birth then!

Not neccesarily(sp) hun, would they not give you steriods for the baby's lungs from 34 weeks anyway just incase or would that be dangerous?

yes they will if I show any signs of premature labour again, its not dangerous for them

my sister had a longer labour o her 2nd than she did on her first.

her first was something like 24 hours but her second was 36!

xx

ahhh i hope mine aint quick ill deffo cough n itll be out lol
mine was 40 mins from 3 cm to giving birth

my first was 5 and a half hours my second was 3 hrs and my 3rd was the same. so i was lucky.

My second labour was harder than my first but i was induced second time. First labour was about 20 hours from start then 50 minutes pushing. Second was about 5 hours labour then 4 hours pushing!

Hi Sami

I'm in exactly the same position as you:

Rubbish cervix, waters breaking nearly 7 weeks early and a 7 hour labour from the first pain to the finish (although I didn't mind it too much).

I saw the doctor today and she said it's up to the consultant at the hospital if I have a stitch put in or not but I'll have to wait and see. If it's the same consultant as last time I know he's not overly keen on the stitch if he can avoid it.

I'll let you know what they tell me as soon as I know. I have my midwife appointment on 3rd July so don't know when I'll go to the hospital. Hopefully they won't keep me waiting too long.
