So I've just had my 20 week scan and discovered we are having another little boy. I had the perfect girls name picked out, but am really struggling with what to name the little fella.

His big brother's name is Zachary. We like traditional names with no unusual spellings. We prefer a name that can be used in long and short-form (like Zachary can also be Zach) so baby has some choice in what he wants to be called when older.

Any thoughts? I'm at a complete loss lol.

You're like me. I like names like that too

What about Alexander?

We have Joseph picked out for a middle name if we have a boy, which could be Joe shortened.

My sister has a Bradley - Brad, a Thomas - Tom, and a Joshua - Josh.

If any of them are helpful x

I find boys names so much easier than girls! Most of the names I have on my list can't be shortened, but I have a few.

I like William - Will is also nice or he could be a Billy.
Finlay/Finn.
Oliver/Ollie.
Samuel/Sam.

Thank you everyone, some very good suggestions. :)

I absolutely LOVE Alexander, but it's my nephew-in-law's name and we are close wii that side if the family so it would be awkward to use. :(

Joseph is my other nephew-in-law's name lol, so that's out too unfortunately. :(

I like Joshua, will add that to my list of possibles. :)

William is lovely, and I like Will too. Not so keen on Finlay, Oliver is lovely, but don't like Ollie lol. Samuel is good though. :)

We have just found out that we are having a boy, our name at the moment is Mason Thomas. Boys names are much harder than girls xx

Obviously I'm biased but what about Matthew (we call him Matty as a cute nick name). Other ones that are traditional and go with Zachary are Samuel, John, Joseph, Christopher xx

I like similar names to you but am a teacher so don't like overly common names too. We have chosen Theo/ Theodore as our boys name. We absolutely love it!

Love Alexander and Samuel, although because of my sisters being Samantha and Alex they're not options!! X

I've always loved the name Samuel but don't like Sam lol
