hey,

I have a hospital appointment tom at the maternity clinic and dont know what its for? Had my scan 4 weeks ago and it was made then. Have my next scan in 3 weeks. i have tried to ring to ask what its for so I know if hubby needs to be there but there was no answer.

Any ideas? xx

Is it your 16 week appointment where you listen to your babys heartbeat and they do your blood tests for yor down syndrome test?

I have my 16 week appointment with the midwife on thursday and that is what mine is for. There is a flow chart in my yellow notes that tells me when i have to go to the hosp/clinic and what for.

hope this helps xxx

No, i have been for that a week and a half ago x

I don't know then, i would ring up and find out. xxx

I was given a random hospital appointment at 17 weeks and didn't have a clue what it was for. I'd been referred for consultant care as I was high risk for an ectopic pregnancy but a scan at 6 weeks ruled that out. When I got there the consultant seemed a bit confused by it all too, and referred me straight back to my midwife

He said that it could be because I had a relative had diabetes so I needed screening for GD, but some people are referred because of high BMI or anything else that might - but doesn't usually - require extra monitoring. I wouldn't worry about it

Erin I had a consultant appointment too! The consultant was confused why I was there and asked me what I was doing there?? em!! So I asked my midwife when I had my next appointment and she said all the new bookings go to the consultant to be screened here, some have risk factors, I think mine said 'fibroid adenoma' but actually it was a fibroadenoma which was removed from my breast when I was 16 and nothing to with the pregnancy. It also had PCOS on there too which they weren't bothered about, cause of course I'm pregnant! My midwife was actually quite pleased and said I was lucky to get a wee extra appointment. Unfortunately I saw it as a big waste of time, they were an hour late and took my blood pressure and urine sample, nothing else.
I hope your experience is better!!!! Nothing to worry about I wouldn't expect though!

I saw the consultant because my blood pressure is high - always has been, runs in the family unfortunately but they decided to medicate me as I'm pregnant. The GP sorted out the meds and then I saw the consultant about a month after starting them. BP was fine, urine was checked and I was referred back to my GP. Agree was a bit of a waste of time, plus it was at the time it was really snowing, it took me ages to get there but I got there on time and then had to wait over an hour cos everyone else was late :P

How did the appointment go chick? Did you find out what it was for?

Yeah, just back and it was to see consultant because of my high blood pressure...doh! Why didnt i click thats what it would be for? Consultant said my BP is still a bit too high so I need to be monitored closely :-(

I got to hear bubbas heartbeat for the first time though so it was totally worth going! xxxx
