I literally could cry!!! I'm in work so it hurts to hold it in.
Midwife phoned and I have gestational diabetes. Anyone had it? Is it high risk? Anyone have info would be great about now xx

Hey lv I was told I have it and like u i panicked and actually cryed for a full day but its not all that bad...so try not to worry it can be mangeged through diet or medication and baby is very closely monitored... Baby will be fine lv

I've read and been told, I could have a bigger baby so likely an induction. Is this right?

Yeah I was told I would have a bigger baby as well and they would monitor his size to make sure he don't get to big... Had to have an extra 5 scans but that's good in a way cuss we get to see him like every 3-4 weeks .... Was also told I could be induced as early as 36 weeks depending on his size but I'm now 30 weeks and he is still measuring perfect ... Asked my diabetic medwife about induction on my last visit and she said if he still measures normal they won't induce me untill the week of my due date because they won't let me go over 40 weeks but that's also good in away... The only big down fall is we will both be in hospital for 12-24 hours after as he's got to have three clear consecutive blood reading... Which sucks cuss not keen on hospitals but other than that everything els isn't to bad lv

I just want to say if either of you are keen to breastfeed without supplementation you should look into colostrum harvesting.

You can express and freeze your colostrum in the weeks before the birth then take it into hospital with you when you go to give birth & use a syringe/dropper to give the baby the expressed colostrum to keep their blood sugar stable whilst your breastmilk comes in.
Talk to your midwife etc too so they know you wish to use colostrum rather than formula etc and they should have a fridge available for you to store the colostrum in whilst you are in there too.
