Hi , just wondering if any one else here is asthmatic, and whether it has affected their pregnancy at all? My asthma has been quite bad over the last couple of weeks, and ive had to use my inhaler. I havent had a chance to check with my doc yet if its okay to use during pregnancy. Anyone know?

Thanks :D

sorry i don't know but you can always call NHS direct and check with them and get advice

hi im asmatic and with my pregnancy i was fine. Inhalers are fine to take, they may have u down for a consultant though but thats only so when giving birth they know what meds ur on!
Good luck hun
xx

Thanks for the replies! I was a little worried as I use the inhaler instictively, then thought oops! maybe I shouldnt have used that!
Thanks for the help x

I'm asmathic and they tell you to just take your inhaler as you would if you wasn't pregnant, it doesn't affect the baby. The only probss may be as you get further along, i always found myself getting breathless (around 25 weeks), and this will be when you will start to need your inhaler more!

I was very lucky that mine disappeared while I was pg! It was the only good thing that happened during the whole 9 months!! :rotfl:

Unfortunately, it's back now and I'm back to the inhaler. :(

The gp did give me the same advise as claire has told you though. Just to carry on using the inhaler as if you weren't pg.

ive been told that its fine to use my ventolin inhaler while pg and also the purple steroid pump i have occasionally is also ok i found on my last pregnancy my asthma was really bad but luckily this time its improved and ive not used it for a few weeks now xxx

my asthma is mild so i only use ventolin every now and then but my gp said it is ok to use as normal, and the inhalers are free now as well so u can stock up on them! :)

I was told they are all fine to use, mine gets bad in the winter, esp when pregnant. I've just used them as normal :)

Yes, the inhalers are fine to take in pregnancy but if your asthma is not being controlled with the inhalers, you should see your doc asap so that he can up your dosage or prescribe something to bring it under control.
