So the past two days I’ve had mild discomfort when peeing. Just got up this morning and it was fairly bad, like really burning feeling TMI but I was to the point where I had to try hold tissue down below when peeing to try and just make it easier.

Also noticed to seemed darker in colour. We’re always short staffed at work so i feel guilty for calling in sick but I know because of that they’ll make it difficult for me to get an emergency appointment for today or ask to try book in an advance (with my Drs that like 2-3 weeks).

Obviously me and baby come first and I have had one bladder infection in the past and this is how I felt so I think I’ve got another. Am I doing the right thing by taking the day just in case they make it difficult?

Morning,
Sorry to hear your suffering. My boss is a bit of a nightmare letting us go to doctors appointments etc. So as much as I don't always want to sometimes it is easier to phone in sick because we find once we're there we're there! As much as it shouldn't be sometimes it feels like the only option.
You definitely need to see someone.
Hope your feeling better soon x

No doubt about it that you and your baby come first hun.
Call in sick, if your unwell there is nothing your boss can say. Ask for a doctors note to prove to your boss maybe?
Get better soon x

Thank you both.

I callled three times and was going to say that I’ll come in with the promise I’d be able to to a Drs appointment at whatever time they offered but I got no answer so text them in the end and said I won’t be in at all. We’re meant to call a hour before we’re due to start so they can sort cover. Which I did but no reply and they’ve only now responded- 25 minutes before my shift so down to them to get all day cover now.

Sounds like you have a urine infection. Discomfort when peeing and burning are definitely signs of that, plus dark urine. The doctor may just give you antibiotics straight away or they may send your urine sample to the lab first and then ring you tomorrow to prescribe a course for 5 days. It's nothing to worry about but defintely important to be seen and treated because if you leave it, it could go to your kidneys and that makes you feel really unwell.
Stuff your boss. You come first xx

Thank you but I think it is too. Pretty much same pain and discomfort I had a couple years ago when I had one and most women in my family got one when they where pregnant.

Being seen at 11.45 :)

Just been seen. Tests at Drs came back negative for infection but going to have samples sent off just in case. She did say it could be mild inflammation which should settle in a few days but can cause discomfort. Should get results tomorrow or Friday

Good news that its not an infection and you get better very soon <3 x

Glad that you should know in a day or two.

As for appointments, I wasn’t aware they could legally stop you going to such appointments whilst pregnant? I thought they had to let you go.

An employer cannot stop you from attending appointments related to pregnancy issues, it's against the law. Travel time back and forth is included in that time as well.
They also cannot penalise you for any pregnancy related sickness, so if you are off sick due to something like that it cannot count towards a sickness target or policy. Also against the law.

Glad it doesn't look like an infection although I hope you do get an answer to what it is, as it doesn't sound like something you should just wait out. Hope you're feeling better soon.
