Hi ladies

I will be very impressed if any of you can help me with my question :D

I am looking into getting a new car for when 'bump' arrives. Does anyone know if tinted car windows do the same job as the car sun shades they sell? My DH and I have v sensitive skin and if tinting the windows will do the best job then we will....plus it will make baby feel like a celeb! 8)

I would ask at a garage but TBH I dont trust them much! :shakehead:

Thanks x

i doubt it because the front windowscreen and passenger and driver side windows have to let in a certain amount of light, so that you can see out and see the road.

the rear ones can be darker, but still i dont think they are dark enough to stop direct sunlight from getting into the car and shining on baby.

i think sun shades are the way to go, but of course if you are sensitive, then every little helps!

Hmm  I thought tinting the windows might be better as we can obviously tint both of the back ones and the sun screen only covers part of one window but I also see what you are saying. Are the sun screens actually easy to see out of? Probably a very stupid question!!!

yeah i would assume so.. you only need the sun shade to dispurse the direct light from the babys eyes.. surly tinted windows would do the same?

Hi, I actually think Tinted Windows do a much better job than sunshades!

We have our back 3 windows done by this company :

http://www.execspec.co.uk/tinting.asp

They were extremely helpful, there is a variety of different types of tints you can have. We love ours, it keeps our car cool, shaded and no direct sunlight through, we have them as we always have our dog in the back with us. I really can't reccomend them enough. If your not sure I'd suggest going to a company that specialises in them, they all have a certain % of light and UV rays they will let through. We have Limo Black.

Of course you can only have a certain level on the front windows, we haven't had ours done yet purely because we couldn't afford it at the time, but we will be having them done in the future.

**Please bear in mind it will still get warm in the car, i don't want anyone to read this thinking if you have them it's safe to leave your dog in the car with them! It's not it will still get HOT!**

Also just wanted to add you can still see out of them fine, but no one can see in, which is great for us.

Ohhh Thanks Kirsky thats great! We also have a dog so she might fancy some tinted windows too! :D

its suprising how good a job they do, we opted for tinted windows and if i open mine a little it really doesnt make it too bright to see out half the time plus you can very the degree of tinting although the front window has a maximum you are allowed.
