Hi, im 24 and in a relationship.
Both my partner and i work but my job is temporary. Im worried i could be pregnant, will i get any kind of maternity pay or benefits?
How will we cope? We both live at home at the moment
Thanks

hey wellcome to forum

you will be entitled to some thing, if u cant get mat pay, you maybe able to get mat allowance and if not that then you cant get incapacity benefit. How temp is the work your doing now? and how many weeks pregnant are you?

plsu u wil get child and working tax credit once baby is born.
hope that helps a little x

Thanks for the reply, that put me at ease knowing there is something im entilted to. My temp position runs out at the end of May due to the company moving up north. Im not 100% sure if im pregnant and am fairly confused about the whole thing and when to test!

First day of last period was 28th December and i have a 28 - 30 day cycle so should have been on again on 24th Jan ish. Had some cramps and am normally on a few day after the cramps and had lower back pain today.

Is it too early to test?

Thanks again :)

if it was me i wud buy loads of cheap supermarket brand tests and start testing, i get frustrated waiting, i used to test a few times a day when i was waiting to get my positive.

will it be a good thing if u are pregnant?

Yes and no.

Me and the BF have been together 5 years and were plannig to go to Australia in June for a year to live and work. This is why i have the temp job up until May as it fitted in perfectly to what we had planned.

Now i think i could be pregnant the Oz plans will be out of the window! BUT we want to have a family so much and i know he will be over the moon if it is positive! :cheer:

Only thing is, we both still live at home and wanted to be settled together in our own place before kids... that will be the hard part

moving house can be done very quick when needed, when i fell pregnant with my first i wasnt living with my partner. we just knew we had 6 months to sort it and it was actually fun and made the whole experience really exciting.

i know we werent at the right time to have babies, as i was half way through uni doing nurse training, but it happened and i wouldnt change it for the world, i think better things have happened since as no im self employed and work when i want and spend most my time with my little girl.

good luck for getting a result u want xx

Thanks for the replies paradysso

Ill let you know how i get on with the tests and anymore advise is welcome
