Im positing this on behalf of a friend who is really going through it the last few days. A bit of history, she had a miscarriage in August at exactly 4 weeks pregnant, she had taken an early pregnancy test 2 days before and had a very clear positive. She had bright red bleeding and pain across her stomach and then the pregnancy tests became negative over the next few days. She took a month off from TTC. She had a normal period on 9th september.
Last tuesday (02/10/18) she took a FRER and got a light positive, she took another one the next day and two IC's and they were all a much clearer positive.
Yesterday afternoon she had some pink spotting, that turned into browny/red spotting and she started to get severe pain across the bottom of her stomach and up the left side. The pains started to get worse and as it was mostly on one side and her arm, we headed to the out of hours doctors last night because she was worried about an eptopic.
When we eventually saw the doctor, he did a dip pregnancy urine test, which he held in the pot for about two seconds, looked at it less than two minutes later and declared it was negitive and told her to go home.
Shes taken another test this morning, It looks a little lighter than the one she took last week, but the only one she had was a clear blue, so different brand might show a different result? Shes still in a lot of pain, just one side, but the bleeding hasnt got any worse.
Shes still worrying about an eptopic. The doctor felt her tummy last night and said she had left side tenderness. Im not sure if it is something to worry about or if shes got herself into a bit of a flap (which i completely understand) No where local will scan her privately at less than 6 weeks, even to rule out an eptopic. Shes so desperate for this to be a healthy pregnancy.
Any words of wisdom?
Is she just going to have to cope with the pain until she can get a positive pregnacy test at the doctors?
She was only due on today. So its still early days.

Thank you

Personally if the pain is really effecting her I would be down the EPU immediately. If it is an ectopic this can very dangerous so needs to get this ruled out ASAP.
Fingers crossed for your friend x

Thank you for replying, the EPU wont see her without a doctors referral, and the doctor wont refer as he says her test was negative and the 4 home test she took must have been false positives (he really was a bit of an arse!).
Ive found a walk in EPU in london (about an hour from us) that i would happily take her to, but i dont know if they would see us as its a different county?

Can you not take her to the out of hours gp at your local hospital? I'd be firm and tell them she did have positive tests and she needs checking for ectopic pregnancy.

I'd also advice your friend to change gp practices. It sounds like he's both incompetent and lacks any kind of bedside manner!

Hope everything works out OK for her xx
