Any advice please!

Hi just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and could offer me advice or support.

I'm nearing the end of my maternity leave and have finally got to decide whether or not to return to work. My mum has offered to look after CJ for 2 days a week, for which I am hugely grateful. The problem is, I have a really strong feeling that if I am offered part-time work it will be for 3 days and not 2 days a week. As much as I enjoyed working before CJ came along, I enjoy being a mum more . Any got any ideas as to how I can persuade my work to offer me what I want instead of what they want? Unfortunately due to money matters I need to earn something, I've got to go into work next Monday to discuss things.

I hope someone can offer me so helpful advice

Could you offer to do 2 long days rather than 3 standard days. I know this would depend on what job you do but it can work in some cases. I used to do 4 days and then changed to do the same amount of weekly hours over 3 days to save on childcare costs. If this isn't practical then there's no harm in asking for 2 days - they might surprise you and say yes. If they say no then I think that legally they have to give you a good reason. Good luck x

Thanks for the advice, due to the type of work I can't increase the hours per day. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed and hope that they offer me 2 days if not I'll just have to work 3 days. Not what I really want, but I need the money!
