My 12 month old is on antibiotics for the first time due to an ear infection. The dr told me to look out for diorreah vomitting allergic reactions etc. all is well her stools are a bit looser but not diorreah like but she is sleeping a lot! Since she's been on them she's sleeping through the night. A very long morning nap (2 hours+) then she's having an afternoon nap now. In between she is eating and drinking well and smiley and happy. Is this normal. It's amoxicillin she's on

I had some of that 5 years ago and it made me delirious. I phoned the docs and got advised I could stop after only 3 days, still cleared the infection and ever since I get different ones cause I didn't like how they made me feel when I can't remember whether I just missed or took my dose double it freaks me out. In case of life and death am sure I'd be fine as it doesn't give me a life threatening reaction..

But then I wouldn't generally take anti biotics for an ear infection if not needed. I'd just phone the practise and ask them for advice or the NHS number if practise is now shut or even pharmacies in places like asda and bigger boots are prolly still open where you could ask x

Yep I would def phone for medical advice (even 111 if need be)

I'm sure sleepiness is just down to baby being poorly but always best to get proper medical advice to put your mind at rest.

X

When my lo was on amoxicillin I noticed he slept more too and had lots of explosive nappies and he was fine x

When my lo was on antibiotics he had diarrhea and stomach ache so I stopped them
