For those fo you who don't know me, hi  I'm Sally, I'm 25 and expecting my first baby, (4th pregnancy).
Well basically I am the biggest wimp in the world when it comes to injections (My eyes water when i have my bloods done etc, yes i'm that bad).
Well tomorrow i've got to have my Anti-D injection which i'm not looking forward to, I've heard it is really painful...
Also I'm, not 100% where they do the jab as i've heard different thing, (arm, leg and bum ) can anyone enlighten me please?
I have actually had the jab before but I was under anesthetic at the time so didn't feel a thing  so yeah, this is me.
HEEEEELLLPPPP!!!!!

I had an anti d at 28 weeks and I have to have another when im 34 weeks. I didn't find it at all painful and I had it at the top of my left arm. It ached a bit afterwards though but it wasn't painful :)

Good luck :D

see i was convinced my consultant said i'd have it twice (and i've got another appointment at 37w) but im hoping it is just the one lot i need as my mw said it is usually only administered once. how come you're having it twice?

Can i ask what the anti d is for? No one has ever mentioned this to me.

hey, yeah my blood group is rh - so i have to have it.

Basically if baby's blood is rh + and mine and babies blood comes into contact during pregnancy or birth, my blood would build antibodies to "fight" baby's blood, this wouldn't effect the baby or me, but i was to become pregnant again and this had happened the my body would have already built up antibodies and would fight that pregnancy.

once your immune system has made antibodies, it will be fast to react next time it detects rh + blood. So if my second baby is also rh +, my body will already know how to make antibodies in the event of another mix of bloods.

Antibodies could then cross the placenta and attack my second baby's blood, causing a condition called haemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN). HDN can lead to baby developing anaemia, jaundice and even liver and heart problems

Ive had it once with both pregnancies but this time they did it in my bum and said they've changed the guidelines so you have a bigger dose but once!

I'm on my second anti d injection in 2 weeks : (
Just on my way to midwife now to have it done for my 28 week app
Let you know how it goes : ) x

wow (bigger dose) thanks (in bum)

Sorry if I didn't help but at least you get it over and done with one injection!! Some places stillgive it in the arm but our hospital gave it to me in My bum!

Hi just got back home
Anti d wasn't too bad at all it stings a little bit when they inject it in but my arm is fine now I don't even have any aches yet : ) x

I had mine yesterday - just one injection according to the midwife so I won't need another one.

I had it in my bum, and it didn't hurt at all...although my midwife tricked me, just before she started she told me it was important I wriggle my toes...and as she did it she kept saying 'wiggle them, this is impoartant' - I was so focused on this that I didn't notice the injection! Afterwards I asked why it was important I wiggle my toes and she said 'it isn't - but it kept you distracted!' lol!!

Hope yours goes ok! :)

I've not had this????
