Hey girls,
how is everyone? I have my first antenatal clinic at the hospital on friday and i was just wondering what to expect really. I know they will take a water sample and blood tests but i'd just like to know what else happens (im very curious!) I also have an appointment with the MW next wednesday (9th april, il be 15 weeks) and I think she will be talking to us about tests for downs syndrome
(which me and james have already discussed and decide we don't want because of risk of M/C even if it is only a slight risk and because we love our baby no matter what)
I didn't know if the MW does the same sort of stuff as what they do at antenatal. Thankyou to anyone who replies xx

At mine they do exactly the same thing at the hospital antenatal clinic that my community midwife does. They check you've been feeling well, do your BP, test your urine (take a sample with you), sometimes take bloods (not at every visit) have a feel of your tummy and listen to baby's heartbeat.

Hope that helps!

Sometimes they do your weight too. I didn't have babies heartrate listened to until my 22 week appointment, at 12 weeks and 16 weeks the midwives didn't listen as "sometimes its hard to find and can be stressful for the mother" :? .

I din't have the blood tests for Downs or Spina Bifida either, I didn't feel they were conclusive enough, a lot of the figure is based on your age, and as I've had a miscarriage before I knew I wouldn't have an amnio based on a risk factor.
