Hi guys, random question here, was wondering when I'm supposed to tink about antenatal classes etc.. had a midwife appointment at the local clinic yesterday and forgot to ask her, but to be honest I would rather go to Dumfries as thats where we're having bump etc.. but dont know who to ask or how to find out about them. I have a scan next week at the antenatal clinic, can I ask there?
Sorry to sound blonde but I'm 24 weeks and starting to think I should be thinking about them..
Thanks
Lib and Bump

hello hunny.

my mw told me to book them at 28 weeks but i know through friends that they get booked up fast. so i booked mine last week xx

I got a note of my first one at my 8 week booking in appointment  It's my first day of tri 3 I think, 24 October.

xxx

ooh blimey! better find out then, do you think my midwife would think i'm mithering if i ring her and ask! never done this before lol, and dont know what to do! help!

No, I think you'll be fine hun. I think it just depends on where you live. I don't know why I got mine so early, she just wrote it in my folder.xxx

Hopefully, so do you book it through the midwife or the antenatal clinic, as I think they do local classes, but they also do ones in Dumfries, am I allowed just pick? Gah! Confused!! Baby brain deffo not working today!

Hmm I'm not sure. Mine is at my GP surgery. She booked me in, but I think you can book yourself in. Maybe phone mw and ask? xx

I havent been told to book anything?! Really feel like I'm missing out on so much but I don't know who to contact. Definitely going to get all this sorted next time I see the midwife.

i was told at my booking in appt then my mw reminded me after my 24 weeks appt. but have to send the form into the hospital and keep forgetting. hate sending forms wish i could just ring up x

I was told to book mine at my 25 week midwife appointment as the places would be running out so I booked mine as soon as I got back from my midwife appointment.

They start on the 26th October for me :) xxx

i really better get a move on then. gonna put it in the envelope now :-s x

I asked my community MW yesterday as I'm having baby in a different area to my local hospital - she said to go to the hospital where you want to have baby as their policies/practice on pain relief etc may differ. She also said you get to have a tour round the delivery suite etc so best to be where you are going to have the baby. x

Even my midwife said that the nhs ones they do round my way is rubbish so I booked up my NCT classes at about 14 weeks so I knew I could get on it as they get very booked up!!
xxxx

If go on nct website and put in ur due date they tell u when u should start !

my midwife said she'd talk to me about them at my 28 week appointment xx

not sure when they start but does anyone know if you have a planned c section booked in do you still benefit from antenatal classes? not a clue? x

I think I was told after 20week scan, forgot though. :s.x

I booked mine last week by phoning my community midwife team. It's booked at the hospital where I am going to have the baby so, like other people have said, I can find out about their policies on pain relief, hubby staying with me, what to do when I arrive at the hospital etc. Our trust has stopped doing stork walks now, so we can't actually visit the unit, so these classes will be my best opportunity to find out what actually happens at my hospital, as well as getting the advice on how to breast feed and what to do when we get the baby home. So I guess if you are having a planned C-Section a class at the hospital where this is happening will probably still be beneficial, unless you've been able to visit separately and know exactly what to do and where to go when you go into labour.
