Hi everyone I'm just wondering how all you lot clean your little ones ears out? Brody had very waxy ears and I've tried to get it out with cotton wool, cotton buds and even my finger nail! The cotton wool is too soft to get at it, the cotton buds seem too big and seem to push it in even further. Plus I don't want to prod about too much and I'm scared of scratching him with my nails!
I just can't seem to get at it! :x

I use cotton wool buds but i just make sure i don't go in to the ear(if you know what i mean)

I sort of do a circle round the ear hole

Hope i make sense :?

I have the same problem - but nothing has worked so far. Eloise hates me touching her ears with buds (I don't go inside her ear, just the ridges on the outer bit and she moves away and cries!) so I just leave it. When she's older i'll try oil etc but it's not a big problem atm. I do worry it could be affecting her hearing as I have a hearing problem due to my ears not draining wax properly (sorry -TMI) but I don't want to worry about it while she's too young to understand.

I have the same problem too, Emma has very waxy ears. I only clean the outside when the wax comes out, I wouldn't poke anything into her ear. It doesn't seem to bother her, so I am not too worried about it.

Thanks for the replies! Well I have just been cleaning whats come away for the time being as it seems to dry then eventually break off on it's own. It doesn't seem to bother him and it doesn't seem to affect his hearing so I can't see it being a major problem!
Thanks again!xx :)

i use cotton buds. if the cotton bud can't reach any wax then leave it. don't probe about or it pushes the wax to the back of the ear nand can cause more damage.
i always clean my kids ears out after a bath so the wax is softer :)

Ditto I wait until Olivia has had a bath and just clean what is already on the outter part of her ear hole.

Thanks for that I aint got no common sense-I've been trying to clean them BEFORE his bath!
Course it's gonna be softer after!
D'oh
