Another BFing question

i'm BFing exclusively at the moment. On Daturday I'm going to mum's in B'ham and was wondering if i could give LO a bottle if she needs it on the way there because the car will be full and i'm not to keen on BFing infront of everyone. Is this OK or should i just somehow BF her.

I know it's my decision but it would be good to get some opinions on the issue. Thanks ladies. x

Have you got a breast-pump? You could express for the journey? (I always take mine and express on the way as well if necessary so I can feed her without having to stop). Or you could always stop at a service station and get everyone else to go for a cup of tea for a bit.

You need to do what makes you comfortable but I see people bf all over the place. If she has never had a bottle before it might be more trouble than its worth to try it for that short time.

London to Birmingham is, what, 2 hours. If your LO is anything like mine, she'll sleep for that the whole way and then feed when you get there.

I'm not sure that that helps! lol

Ditto what Nicky said, she will probably sleep the whole way. My family live in Wales, 3 1/2 hours away and Rudy has slept the whole way every time. Theres something about motorway driving that has a narcoleptic effect on babies.

I would be inclined to express say 4oz and take in a bottle just in case but I doubt you'll need it.

I was like faint at the thought of bfing in front of people, blokes and chavs mostly, we went paintballin on sat and although i took a bottle of expressed she wasnt having any of it although we went to all the palavar of heating it up !
So theyd let us take the car up specially to the little log cabinny bit and 50 blokes around the place i had to bf her so i did, just chucked a terry over me shoulder and her and walloped em out lol
I think youll be fine hun specially if u sit in the back then its only the person nxt to ya relli who can see and even then if u stick a terry on ya they wont be able to, plus as your not allowed them out of the carseat while ur driving ud have to pull over to feed them so just make everyone bugger off and hacve a coffee and bring u one back or something lol
Otherwise express some, i think bubs will sleep the whole way there but just incase

I'd express but your LO will prob be asleep for the car journey.

I had real problems trying to get Lola to take a bottle though she only likes her milk straight from the boob

Personally I wouldn't bother expressing this early and the faff probably won't be worth while. You would have to stop anyway to feed, so either stay in the car (I always found the car quite a comfy place to feed) and send everyone else off, or find a quite place in the service station. Like the others have said though, the car will probably keep LO asleep if you have a straight forward journey.
