Annual Leave?!

Well i got 28 days every year to take out (march to march) so far i have took 4 days but now i wonder.. lets say i go on my m-leave in september, im i only entitled to a few days holiday as im not accually workin or am i still entitled to my 28 days as im still on contract?
Just started to think about it as then you can take holiday a couple of weeks before the mleave starts and get more time of!! hope it makes sence what im tryin to say...

You are entitled to your full amount of holiday days as a normal employee.

Some companies (like mine) tried to fob me off by saying i could only use so many holidays (ie how many days i accrued before maternity leave) and that i could use the rest of the holiday at the end of my maternity leave. I had arguments with them and with the help of some lovely ladies on here i got them to back off and they agreed i could take my full 25 weeks holiday prior to starting maternity leave.

Obviously this all depends on how long you have been with the company, which im not 100% sure on so you'd need to check this out.

Oh and you also acrrue bank holidays too!

Like nicci says you can take them all! I've put in 3 weeks before I start mat leave but my companies trying to be difficult saying there's too many people off already so don't know where I stand with them atm!

haha yeah i guess i will get the same at my place only 2 ppl is aloud of at the same time.. when will you guys take your mat leave then? what week?

I'm entitled to my mat leave but wanted to take holiday afew weeks before so I got longer off but because we're only allowed two girls off in a day, if there's already two off, then my holiday will get denied! It's silly though cos I won't be able to use my holiday up and it'll get wasted!!

I want to start mine early September cos DD starts school then so thought it would be easier!! I'll only be 33 weeks though so not sure if it'll be too early and will drag the rest of the pregnancy out! When are you starting yours?

i have not decided yet.. mid sep i think i hope i dont get to tired before that dont want to go at home just waiting on my own...

instead of taking it off in one go would they let you have an extra day off a week when your further along so your getting more rest

yeah i have already suggested that at work a little bit but now i got 24 days so i prob take 3 weeks of and the rest so i dont have to work as much each week. i need to talk to work tomorrow!! exciting!!
