Hi everyone,

I found out this morning (via clear blue) that I am 2-3 weeks pregnant this morning. It was not expected but happy news for my partner and I as this is our first baby.

So what is that you do at 2-3 weeks I've checked what I can and can't wait and drink... And have barely touched smoking today... I've also purchased folic acid.

I'm petrified I'm gonna lose this baby... is this normal... Reality is hitting me in waves!!

Thanks.

I’d say to get a pregnancy multivitamin in place of the folic acid, folic acid is the most important thing but other things are important too such as vitamin D, C, and iron, if you diet is healthy though then you will probably be getting these things anyway

My advice is to skip any alcohol completely from now onwards, although don’t be too worried about anything you might have had so far either as it’s still very early on, in regards to the smoking cut down as much as you can right away and then phone the doctors or your local health clinic to get an appointment for help with stopping completely

It’s a lot to take it, in my experience even when it’s totally expected it’s still overwhelming! But congratulations and good luck, I think there’s always the fear of a loss in the back of our minds but it’s in the hands of Mother Nature and all we can do is do our best to be healthy for our growing babies, and try to think positive as most pregnancies turn out to be successful

You could always join the sept mums group for other ladies to chat to and get support from x

Oh and phone your GP to find out what the process is for getting refered to the midwife, it varies so much from area to area!

Amazing thank you for your lovely words and advice. After taking a second look I have bought the seven seas pregnancy multi vitamin with folic acid iron and but c.

Xx

Hi guys I am new on here, after 6 years of having implant and continuously taking the pill I have somehow manage to get pregnant, I found out on 24th December the doctor said that it’s like baby Jesus Lol. I already have a 12 year old so it will be a massive age gap!!! Anyone else like that?

I take pregnacare and it seems to have everything in that you need, including folic acid.

I take the sevenseas multivitamin and so far (touch wood) it's the only vitamin that doesn't make me want to vomit. Although I do take it on a night time :)

I think everything has been covered already just wanted to say congratulations xx

Hi I also have massive age gaps. I have a 10year gap between both my sons (years of fertility investigations and treatment lead to this gap). And they'll be be 6 years between my youngest son and this baby. I'm a little nervous about coping with a 6year old and baby, but I'm sure I'll find my own routine once she's here xx

About pretnatals... my normal vitamin (which I love and have taken for over a decade now) is EveryWoman's One a day by New Chapter Organics. (highly recommended as they are a whole food vitamin that can be taken on an empty stomach New Chapter | Natural Vitamins, Herbals, Supplements, Fish Oils and Calcium). So I bought the prenatal vitamin and it's three tiny pills a day with ginger and various herbs to help ease the stomach.
However I was exhausted after being awake for 3-5 hours every day (first 3-9 weeks of pregnancy), and when some good friends got me a new brand for Christmas I tried that and it turned out to give me a lot more energy (up to 6-9 hours a day as long as I eat meals on time). That complex had the Vitamin B set (which enables your blood cells to hold more nutrients and oxygen and work more efficiently but may make you a bit more thirsty). So I think if I were to take the first prenatal again with a B complex the energy issue would be better solved, but I can happily recommend both. The first had such good ingredients (and more importantly, bio-available forms of those ingredients that my primary care physician and her assistants were all taking pictures of the bottle when we brought it in).

So, maybe compare ingredients or try more than one and see how you feel afterwards?

The second vitamin is Rainbow LIght Prenatal One, and I do have to have some food with it in the morning but not a lot. Also it looks like they have different prenatals for each trimester now, which sounds amazing though i haven't compared ingredients yet. (Rainbow Light - Healthy Multivitamins & Nutritional supplements). That is also Non-GMO and excellent forms of the vitamins.

Also for those whose boobs are hurting (and isn't that all of us from time to time?) That's your body needing iodine because of the growth of the boobs etc (it's essential for your thyroid health as well) and many environmental chemicals around us now compete with it in your body so something like bromine, chlorine or flouride displaces it in your system. But basically even if you aren't prgenant and your boobs hurt your body is lacking in iodine.
