that's basically it, I love the smell of baking, such a homely smell. I want to light the woodburner now too cos it'll be extra snug!!

cake turned out fabby!!!! It's now wrapped up in various paper just pourred on some brandy to "soak" it in and will be adding some every week up until xmas. A bit "broke" off whilst it was cooling, so it was only fair that I try some of it........

I made my first christmas cake last year and it was amazing!
Not sure whether to make one this year or not though - Hubby doesn't like fruit cake at all so I will have to eat it all again!
I used my nan's recipe - which my mum also uses but I added walnuts too - everyone said my cake was better so its a bit of a competition really
Ok I've just persuaded myself to get the recipe out and get it baked at the weekend!!!
