Am i normal?

Is this normal? I have 7 weeks left and i really dont have a clue about anything im so scared. When i look in the section third trimester and everyone is talking about baby's head engaged, sweep and a bloddy show i really think to myself what the hell does this all mean i really dont know anything i found i understood the second trimester alot more also am scared about afterwards with the baby i know people say it will come natural but im terrified i dont do something right will the midwife help me out and tell me like a routine with the baby and what he needs and that? Any one else feel the same?

I felt exactly the same when pregnant with lacey! After I had her I hadn't even heard of routines and my OH had to teach me how to dress her and change her nappy!! It does come to you like nature though Hun x x

I was the same Hun! The only reason I learnt everything was thru forums! When baby comes the mws will show you how to do everything and then once you go home they come out every day initially! It will honestly cone to you naturally but if you have any queries there's always someone on the end of the phone at the hospital for you xx

I was the same with my first! I'm ashamed to say that I didn't know what 'winding' was after I give birth to him.. But it was nearly 14 years ago and the Internet wasn't widely available then and I was a bit niave I think lol The midwives were great though and I soon learned very quickly what to do and that!

You'll be fine when the time comes, don't feel stupid about asking any questions.. We're all here to help you out!

i know what u mean i used to be like that but since then i have read lots of books and looked into lots of things on the internet and this forum and its surprising how quickly you learn it all x

thanks everyone i dont know what i would do without this forum to be honest thats where i have learned everything up to now. Its just this last trimester thats freaking me out i think because i know thats it all over then am on my own. I have loads of books on pregnany anyway and my antenatal classes start in august so im sure i will survive. Im sure everyone is like me in the beginning anyway and then it all comes and you think aww my god i didnt know that. The only thing i know about a baby is if its crying there can only be 3 things wrong 1 it needs a bottle 2 it needs its bum changed and 3 it needs burped other than that i dont have a clue lol

am scared of changing the baby too incase i snap him in half just because they are so small and delicate lol

Hi hun,
This is my second, and I feel likt that too! My daughter is only 3 and a half, and I have no recollection of how often/how much a newborn feeds and so on.
If my niece hadn't been born a year ago I know I would have been petrified of changing/holding/dressing a newborn again, but since she was a newborn not long ago I feel okay with that part. The idea of bathing a little on all over again scares the crap out of me though (sorry for my language!)
I'm hoping it will come "naturally" but if not, I will be googling a hell of a lot!
Try not to stress, I know thats easy to say, but I guess our parents managed without having the internet so it is possible!

yeah true lol i dont have a clue either with the feeding thing im hoping my oh knows all that because i certainly dont. Yeah im the same with the bathing im terrified i bought a changing unit with a bath in it but didnt like the idea of having to hold the baby whilst washing it so decided to buy a bath with a seat thing in it so you lie the baby down and you dont need 2 hold it. am to paranoid. hopefully it will come naturally or i will be known stop on here asking everyone questions hahaha

You're fine hon - this is my first and I know nothing either! I didn't even know that you are supposed to wash the baby clothes before bub wears them or that I had been having BH for about 2-3 weeks!

I am enjoying discovering things as and when they come up and am not remotely worried about the labour, birth or after - it'll all just happen and you'll do great- I'm just trying to enjoy the process and experience it all for myself rather than watching out for things. You'll be fine hon.

really i never knew that one true saying you learn something knew every day. Yeah im just enjoying every day while it lasts too because before you know it its all over and you wish you done things different. I was terrified of labour but now ive learnt to accept it our body's are designed to do it
