Hi,

I think Sophia might be allergic to something, but not sure what.

She's had a really bad bottom (4 poos a day), is really spotty round her mouth and is just in such a foul mood most of the time, which is very unlike her.

We thought it may have been peanuts, although she's had them before with no reaction. Pharmaist thought it may be that and that she may be not feeling 100% so not able to deal with it all the time.

But last time she had some was Saturday and she's still bad.

We're thinking.., could it be milk? How can I test that? She's very addicted to her bottle at night and in the morning, and most nights in the middle of the night.

I'm not sure whta the symptoms are, or whether she's not allergic to anything, just under the weather. It's not a teeth thing as she's got them all!!

Thanks!!

Hoping viewer 70 will respond...!!

Turns out Sophia very probably is allergic to milk and possibly also soya products.

Is anyone else going through this - not sure what we need to do to sort out new foods and how to cope.

You need to ask your gp for allergy testing as this will pinpoint what kind of milk allergy it is ie lactose or milk itself. It can make a big difference in what foods she can have. Albert has lactose intolerance and so will not be able to have peanuts especially dry roasted if you can believe that lol. Your gp should refer you to a dietician for advice xxxxxxx

Only just seen this. Like already said push for allergy testing. Has she not shown symptoms before now? T is lactose intolerant diagnosed at 4.5 months old is almost 2 and can now manage most foods other than chocolate. She's also got a soya allergy. x

Well, it's a bit strange really! She's never shown any signs before, and she had a soy diet last week and her spots nearly totally cleared up, but now the dr says to keep her off that too. The formula they've given her though she won't touch (it is horrid!!). We were thinking of putting her back on the soy diet and see how she does.

Still not overly convinced about it though, as her bottom is better and she's back to her old self. I'm thinking she is a little intolerant and when she's a bit run down (which she was) she doesn't cope so well.

Will try and get the dr to refer her to a dietician though, as if it is a milk and soya thing, we need to find some way of keeping up with what she needs.

could you not put a lot of soy mixed in with the other formula and then slowly swap it over until its all formula from the dr?!

Sorry Hun I've only just seen this. My l/o is allergic to dairy, diagnosed round 20 weeks. He has been on Nutramigan (minging) ever since. He has eczema, bad nappies and constant horrendous trapped wind and tummy ache. Soya he was totally fine with but was also advised to take him off the soya formula, although he gets alpro soya yogurts and soya spread and cheese. You get rice milk which you could maybe try. We are currently trying to wean lo back on to dairy x
