Anyone allergic to Nickel?

Ive been looking into buying necklaces to sell on my website and the ones im interested in are gold plated and Nickel Plated. I heard somewhere that some people may be allergic to nickel? Is anyone on the forum allergic to it, and what happens if you come in contact with it?

I am - I used to play the flute and the mouthpiece was nickel plated. It made my chin all red and itchy and it would burst out in blistery spots

Platinum or real silver all the way for me now

I have a nickel allergy and find that I come up in a rash if I wear anything with nickel in it. When I went to the doctors about it he said it is quite a common allergy. You can now buy a liquid that you paint onto anything you want to wear that should reduce the allergic reactions. I noticed that Next sleepsuits are now advertised as being nickel free. Hope this helps.
