Today I'm 40+2 and I'm going insane, I want to meet my baby feels like I've been waiting lifetime from TTC to BFP to now being Overdue, I'm so excited nervous and anxious all at the same time but I just want labour to kick-start soon, I want baby to naturally come, but my midwife has booked me in for a sweep for Wednesday(40+4) so only two days, I've heard so many stories about people having the sweep but then nothing happening, or being in pain and having bad births so i'm eager to avoid this, I've tried all the old wives tales and still nothing, I've been bouncing on my birthing ball like a mad woman hoping it might start something off but still nothing, i think my little man is really comfy inside. Getting so fed up with being big and not being able to do much, even when I've got a little energy it still feels like a task to do the smallest of things, and with the OH being back in work I'm so bored going out of my mind.

Anyone else feeling the same? Any suggestions on what I could try to encourage things along, I know baby will come when ready but I am keen to avoid the sweep and induction? How's everyone feeling with their due date approaching?

I've still got a few weeks to go, but I've been telling myself all along that baby will here on 1st June, which is 2 weeks after my due date of 18th May, so that i don't get too disheartened when my due date comes and goes!

Ah i wish i set my mind frame like that maybe i wouldn't be going insane at the min :wall2:
What are you doing to keep yourself occupied? :)

I can sympathise, I went two weeks overdue with my first. Everyday feels like a lifetime, and you over analyse every twinge or sign that it could be it!

My only advice is to stay calm, try to relax and not let it worry you. After trying everything myself I'm a firm believer in baby will come when it's ready.

I also went 2 weeks over and it wasn't fun! Looking back though, I just wished I had relaxed and enjoyed my last few days of freedom - easier said than done though  Try and distract yourself if you can :-)

Personally I don't think a sweep makes any difference. I had two and they did naff all. If conditions are favourable it will help, if not it does sweet FA.

I went a week overdue with my son, had a disaster induction and emergency c-section. It's true what they say, baby will come when they're ready and there's not much you can do to convince them otherwise. Make the most of this last little bit of peace and quiet while you can.

Hi guys agreed, Ive convinced myself she will be two weeks late so im prepared in case she does but also every day im doing things both to relax/distract but also to encourage baby to make her appearance but like you say if baby not ready nothing you do will work...ive been taking walks, bouncing on ball and spending time in squats and all fours but thats only about 15% of my day, the rest of the time im sat comfortablyish on the sofa watching tv, films, listening to music etc, I am also still going swimming and aquayoga sessions to give me something to look forward to but also something to do thats different otherwise each day merges into one...

I had a sweep two days before my due date with my last wee one.
My waters broke the next morning around 8.30am. He was born in my bath around 10.35.

They did say, depending on the sweep, will depend if it may work or not. Not really sure what that meant!

Good luck, won't be long now!

I think if your cervix is soft or already partially open a sweep can help move things along. But if it's still closed or high, then it's less likely to work.

Are you on our April Mummies list?

I don't want to go 2 weeks over ill end up going insane I feel so ready but I suppose baby is super comfy, i'll be getting induced next week if he doesn't come so i suppose i should be excited as at most it will be just over a week till i meet my baby :D and I did comment on April Mummies but I haven't been added :(

Update - Had sweep this morning, 2cm dilated, it hurt like hell so I'm hoping it kick starts things...
