Ive been pretty healthy through this pregnancy (my 1st) and ive done remarkably well (so i am told by everyone) to get to 33 weeks without any real problems / niggles.

I am still working full time and have been driving round the UK for work, last meeting was last week and i only have 2 weeks left now of working at home till i finish. I live on a 4th floor flat with no lift so walking up 8 flights of stairs a few times per day is normal, and something ive been doing throughout.

BUT all of a sudden i can make 2 flights only before i need to sit and rest for a few seconds.
Yesterday my car was in the garage and i had to walk back home the half a mile or so and i was in absolute agony and it took me half an hour :wall:

I have 2 pain sites that are REALLY causing me agony at the moment when walking ....
* The first pain is a bad aching in my lower back, left hand side, top of left buttock but deep inside - when i walk i can hear it crack and crunch in my neck and it shoots pains down my left hand thigh and leg. Sitting down relieves it for a few minutes before it starts up again.
* The 2nd pain is in what i think is my pubic bone, through my pubic area to the middle i think, like a stabbing pain, its horrid and effects me insofar as i have trouble lifting my legs into the car, into bed, up stairs etc and when turning over in bed - it is fine when sitting still and sitting on by gym ball helps it aswell??

What could it be and why would it suddenly become bad in the past week or so ?
I feel like a cripple and i ended up sobbing yesterday as i feel useless

any of you kind ladies shed some light on this ?

Stretching pains, shooting pains down leg could be a sign of sciatica which is very common as the baby lays against nerves n what not... had very similar at same stage of pregnancy hun - it does get bloody uncomfortable towards the end  i know it hurts but try n stay active with walking as much as you can manage - birthing ball you may find good relief for the pains in your pelvis and good to get baby into position - also helps take pressure off ya fanjita ;) maybe do some swimming ? i find sitting with back straight and palms of feet together really comfortable - you can support your knees with cushions - just helps everything to stretch n relax a bit - loadsa tlc n big hugs Sarah x x x x

Yep all sounds very familiar to me aswell! Its become quite painful for me to even get up out of bed now and i can only walk short distances. I never really had it looked into though as just put it down to the weight of the baby.. im hoping it all goes back to normal when the baby is out.

Hope you feel better soon!

OMG snap to this pain, I cant move :(

Dont worry its all coz of the bubba!

Hope you feel better soon, maybe ask your GP for a physio referral?

I have this too i find keeping my knees together when turning over and laying down helps loads and loads, some days are worse than others, i know its because of bubs so i'm taking it in my stride i just keep thinking 5 more weeks to go :D

Could be SPD hun if that is the case the worst thing for it is excercise so you really need to get diagnosed ASAP!

I find this too.. i bought a small triangular cushion from mothercare (supports the bump).

If i need to move from one side to the other i use the cushion to support the bump, apply slight pressure, legs together with knees bent, swop the cushion to the other side of bump during turning manoevre, apply slight pressure and lower to the bed.. stay there for about an hour, get a numb arse and do exactly the same to swop sides again! Oh the joys!!

Definately sounds like SPD & it can be excruciating. I think you should get a physio referral as suggested as it could get worse.

All my midwife said to me was to keep doing my pelvic floors (i never did them to start with and havent done them since either :? )

I have another midwife now though so i might mention it again next time i go, but i suppose its a bit late for me as i only have 5 weeks to go now.
