Hi guys,

I've had problems with my leg cramping for three days now. It's worst in the mornings but I'm limping all day because the muscle is so tight and bruised. Not sure what to do as I know there's nothing they can give me for it is there? I'm drinking plenty, have upped my intake of water, bananas and have drunk lots of tonic water which has helped in the past but this is hardcore cramping and nothing seems to help. Any ideas? Trying to limp after a go-fast nearly three year old is hard work! Should I be resting it or flexing it?

Thanks!

In my last pregnancy i had terrible leg cramps, it'd more so be near my knees every night i'd wake up and through till morning.
Nothing shifted it, i asked the MW she just suggested gentle leg exercises before you go to bed. Not sure if it helped i can't really remember!
I've started getting them again now, but only in my left leg! If you find anything that does work then let me know !

Oooo i've had this too in the last week. Not ongoing but short bursts of agony! it seems to be when i'm in bed and in the night if i kinda stretch my legs and tighten my muscles they go too far and cramp up for a few minutes which is hurts sooo much until they lossen and then like you my lege feel all achy and sore the next day.

I'm sorry hun i have no advice and i'm not sure why it happens either! But you are not alone and i feel for you!

This is what i used to get, i used to wake up screaming in agony, Dr diagnosed it as night cramps and prescribed Quinnine tablets that i had to take evey day, Ive not had it for a while luckily.

Hi it says nothing on the information leaflet about pregnancy, you could ask your Dr, but also quinine is an ingredient in tonic water so perhaps a glass of tonic water before bed might help??

I had this really early on, was torture! Would wake up in agony especially when my knee locked.
Started going for really long walks and its doing the trick so far.

unfortunatly its just a lovly symptom lol . i had them with my first and they were agonising. Im not looking forward to them agen

Hi,

thanks for the replies. Well in the end I had some acupuncture. I'm seeing a guy anyway and have been since my losses and was due to see him when I get to third tri so he had a go at it yesterday. He totally cured my morning sickness first go so...! So far the cramps are quite a lot better. Not totally gone, I'm still being extra careful stretching my legs but I'm not limping or going into cramp the whole time. His advise was to drink loads and loads, eat leafy veg, bananas and nuts and to do some stretches before bedtime. Basically holding onto the wall putting one leg forwards and bouncing slightly with the other leg behind and heel on the floor and then the opposite leg, also rotating ankles. I've also thrown out all of the pillows I was sleeping on and am down to one pillow on my side again. My hip is taking it so far and I think it's better for my legs somehow than the sitting up position I had before- who knows! I'm also drinking lots more soya milk (can't take cow's milk).

Hope that helps someone else
Thanks
