Just wondering my maternity allowance runs out in may and am not going back to my old job. so.........

What benefit do I get after this stops if I choose to stay at home until Ruby is 1??

Do I have to sign on as I wont be jobseeking   really confused, can anyone help??

M x

I may be wrong but as far as I know you can't get anything as it's personal choice. Is your maternity pay for 26 weeks or 39 weeks?

I doubt you qualify for anything then. You choosing to not go back to work is a personal thing, but you can't claim Jobseekers if you don't plan to work etc.

Like many, if OH is working etc you'll be a stay at home Mum.

You might be able to claim a few small things if you are already on benefits but you'd need to speak to your JobCentre and see if eligible.

I know I am not, so hubby is going to have to support me and LO on his salary.

Thanks girls, its really hard at the mo, as I was the breadwinner and I know when MA stops at 26 weeks we will be buggered. I have always been on a half for everything basis with my DH but now ive just transfered all the bills to his bank for direct debit LOL.

I hope that financially i don't have to go back to work but i dont see how we could survive on my OH's income - which is liekly to be that of an apprentice electrician - so not much really. Am hoping there is something we can claim :s

your OH mite be eligible for income support which is for families on low income (something like that), not sure how much you get tho. You may also qualify for working tax and child tax credits. I doubt its alot of money but every little helps!!!
