Hi new to this site, just found out I'm 7 weeks pregnant and stressing already!

Thing is I am only bread winner in my house and trying to find out when i'm on maternity leave what benefits me and hubby can claim. He was on disability living allowance but due to government changes trying to get all back to work they have not renewed this so rather annoyed.

The amount they gave us was a pitiful £40 a week as I earn to much but now worry how this will affect my benefit claim whilst on maternity leave. At present if I dont find a solution I will be back at work as soon as my 6 weeks are up which I dread!!

Saving madly but this will only buy me a few extra weeks if that, after buying all baby necessities (1st child).

I'm at a loss already and have 33 weeks to go!!

Doesnt help that i've been up all night tossing and turning and that my grandad is days from passing to heaven, hormones going wild. Hugs please, hubby hates to see me cry so going to cry at you lot instead!!

Many thanks for reading and leaving your comments xx

Off to work now (which i add it mighty stressful - hence well paid!! after NO sleep whatsoever!!! :nap:)

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DoItOnlineByCategory/DG_172666 hi hun try going to this link and filling in ur info it should say what your entitled to, you may be entitled to working tax credits now and child tax credits when your lo arrives. hope this helps

As i guessed not entitled to anything  but when i have maternity leave and baby I guess they would give me something.

It all so hard as in governments eyes hubby chosing not to work so therefore we must be able to afford it!!! We would contenst but I havent the strength anymore to support hubby through dregging up past issues again to prove he not fit to work, so looks like i'm back to work after 6 weeks maternity, hope they change rules for next one so i get 4 months off !!!

Best thing to do is pop into your local jobcentre and ask... OH and I have recently found out that we're entitled to move than we have been gettin... Hope you get something sorted xx
