Adverts on this site

Hi all, sorry to post about something not concerning TTC, but it does concern using this site to discuss TTC. The adverts have become so intrusive that I am struggling to use the site at all. I tried to write a msg to someone earlier and had to go back a page as I couldn't even click on the msg symbol without triggering a Debenhams add for underwear. I had to move the page up to write this post as the advert blocks part of the typing box. It's becoming hard to navigate this site too without triggering a Debenhams webpage. I'm on Firefox Mozilla so I don't know if it's particularly bad with my setup or if it happens for other people.The ads I'm talking about are partly translucent, cover 2 inches on the left and right of my screen from top to bottom.

I've used this site consistently for years for the support but this is getting slightly unusable. Is anyone else having this problem? I thought the site administrator might be able to do something.

There are no adverts linked to this site. I think there might be adware or malware on your computer. Firefox usually has an adblocker as an add-on as well. Do you have an AntiVirus installed?

Thanks Kitana. I've added an adblocker. I've definitely got a good antivirus. It's so odd as I only got them when I was on this site so I assumed it was linked. Sorry.

You don't have to apologise. Malware can sometimes be linked to a dodgy app and once installed, can give you loads of pesky adverts. I use the forum on my phone mainly with an adblocker browser. Was so sick of being followed around by ads! Felt like such an invasion of privacy!
Hope you don't get any ads anymore!x

I've been getting ads in the side panels and the top that sometimes cover parts of the main screen too and make the site harder to use. Only on laptop (using chrome) it's fine when I'm on my phone.

I get ads at the very bottom of the page on my phone. Nothing ever gets in the way. Someone else was complaining about ads on here a while back though so it’s not just you having problems. Run a virus scan just in case it’s your device though.

I get loads of ads on this site. At the bottom and when I go to the ttc section of the forum I have to scroll past a large ad every time to get to the actual threads and it makes my page jump about. Right pain xx

I don’t have an issue with ads blocking the screen, and I get that it’s a free service, but for a good while the ad I had to scroll past in the ttc thread was for SMA, it must have been follow on milk I can’t remember exactly but I did think how that could be upsetting to some that are struggling to conceive.

Oh ok, maybe it has been changed since the forum got updated. I use an adblocking browser on my phone and my computer so I never see any ads.
It used to be UK website but has been changed into a commercial one. I will send a message to an admin to see if the ads can be "reduced".

Ads can be personalized or not. Google keeps track of your surfing and will show relevant adverts. I had not allowed Google to personalise ads, so they were random.

I'll have to look into not allowing Google to personalise ads. For a while on other sites I was getting tons of stuff about parenthood, babies, and breastfeeding, which was very upsetting. On this site it's just been tons of Sloggi underwear adverts for some reason!
