I thought I would start a thread as I love household tips, Im always on the lookout for ideas

Here's one to get started:

Spiders HATE lemon essential oil - just wipe some where you see one and they wont come back!

Don't bother with window cleaning solutions, use a bowl of washing up liquid and just wipe away. Cheap, cheerful and no streaks!

flower vases all ways have like a scally water mark you can't get off
fill with cold water and add a few sploshes of dinner vinegar and leave for a day or so
It will just rinse clean and be really sparkly

Clean mirrors with water and newspaper
no marks or streaks left on mirror! It works on windows too

clean mirrors windows, metal taps etc with a cloth of cold water (or any antibacspray you want to use) and just roughly wipe around, then take a dry towel and buff until totally dry. Its sparkly clean and looks fab. I learned that one when I was a cleaner in a hotel as a gap year job. Everyone asks how I get my bathrooms so sparkly clean. I use value antibac spray and an old towel!
