Hey girls, I was speaking to a girl in my work who is not long back from maternity leave. It traspires after a good old chin wag that she had been trying for over 2 and a half years for her 2nd baby. She had had all the tests done etc and hubby's sperm was a little low but apart from that all fine.

She said how it was the most frustrating time as she knew she could have a baby as she had one already but not get pregnant. She then said she had been reccomended to see a chinese alternative dr who had a practice. This lady went through all her history and decided accupuncture was the treatment. Low and behold 5 sessions after her therapy started she was pregnant. She says the woman is amazing. She also made a friends baby turn from being breach in one session after the NHS had given up. All the literature says they are about infertility etc. She is supposed to be really professional.

Wondering if anyone has any experience or thoughts? Im thinking why not give it a try worst it can do is relax me! (oh or be way sore cause you have heaps of pins in you lol)

I think that its worth a shot if you thin it'll help :)

You just have to be careful of becoming dependant, you know... like you feel you can't stop once you've started because everything will go wrong.

Hi, I just wanted to add to this as I've always been very sceptical about these kinds of treatment but was beginning to get frustrated ttc and decided to give it a try. I'd been seriously ttc for 6 months & know I was timing everything right, using opks etc. I saw an acupuncturist who worked with my cycle, seeing me once a week and I conceived in my first cycle! Im sure it helped me & now I'm 20 weeks pregnant & very happy. Im sure it wont help everyone but definitely worth a shot!

I used acupuncture and got my bfp. Thatcwas with a Chinese registered acupuncturist. There are stats to say it helps promote blood flow in to the area, reduce stess and helps with pain such as endometriosis and also pcos. Also stats to say it does help increase fertility rate too :)

Word of warning though the sessions were 25 per half hour and on top I had to take 16 tablets 6 times a day and cost around 15 per week. After 10 sessions apparently I needed more so I felt like I had been a little fleeced by it.

You have nothing to loose trying it, I wouldnt rule it out trying it again but i did everything I could before to help my fertity but I have now ditched bbt chart, opks, calendars, supplements because it became a unhealthy obsession...oops :) I have decided to just see how it goes now because I am the example that you pin your hopes on things like that!

Good luck if you do it fx for your bfp xxx

Hi,

I got pregnant about 3 cycles into acupuncture. I don't know if it was down to the acupuncture or luck tbh but it made me feel like I was doing something else to help.

We started ttc in August, started acupuncture in January and I fell pregnant in April.

I went every week up until 12 weeks because like what LouiseB says I was a worrier! I've been twice since then and am nearly 25 weeks pregnant.

Let us know how you get on if you decide to go for it. It's pretty expensive just to warn you (costs me £38 a session).

:dust:

Thanks girls for your stories! Its £30 a session so think ill do it each week for a bit. Olive I cant believe you are nearly 25 weeks. Im sure it was you who I read on here about going for it back before your BFP. Were you of a different name then similar to me or am I thinking of someone else?

:) it was probably me hun. I used to be lauraanne on here :oooo: lol.

£30 is good.

I started going because my Mum goes for her menopause and recommended her lady. Plus my Mum helped me with the cost initially (gem!). Starfish went to acupuncture too. She was given chinese herbs or something though I think. I was never given any herbal medication but she did put a poppy seed in my ear a few times!

xx

Dont fancy the herbs but reckon ill try the accupuncture! In for a pound I say!!!
