I really like my weekly sessions and now I am on maternity leave I will go a bit more often. But would it be a good idea to stop a few weeks before my due date as I don't want to go into labour or have my waters break in the pool - not that I'd probably know!!!

So for everyone who swam - when did you stop going? Or did you just continue up till the birth?

Oh and I can't wait to take LO swimming as well!!

I swim every week too, didn't have any plans on stopping either. I figure if I do happen to go into labour in the pool, I'll call a lifeguard over to assist me out. Luckily my local pool has a beachlike entry point :D

Oh I think the only thing that would stop me is if my waters had already gone as I think it might increase a chance of infection.

I swam right up until the week i gave birth, its bliss to be weightless when your the size of a house.

Labour doesnt happen all that quickly anyway so even if it did start while swimming or your waters broke you would have loads of time to get changed!

Dont go swimming after your waters break though as you can get infections.

I went swimming and to aquanatal aerobics when I was overdue. Don't worry about it!

I went swimming every week before LO was born. The last time was on my due date, but I would have gone the next week too if I hadn't have given birth that day!

Swimming's really good exercise and feels fantastic when you've got a big bump.

I was worrying about this also.

I've been swimming today and my DH said my belly looks like the bottom of a ship when I'm swimming and proceeded to call me the Titanic  .

Finding it a bit difficult to pull myself out now as the steps are quite high and difficult to get my leg up so won't be going on my own soon.

I was swimming the day I went into labour

I went swimming twice to three times a week up to birth (swam in the morning and went to labour in the evening).

The only issue I had was that I couldn't do as much front crawl as my tummy felt too tight and LO started kicking!!!

I wish I could go swimming as often now (really miss it) but I don't want to leave LO with strangers...

Now theres an idea, you could go and have a water birth all in one :rotfl:

I wouldnt mind going swimming can you do alot of laps during pregnancy??

xx

I do a mile every time I swim which is 64 lengths in a 25m pool. I think it depends on how many you are used to doing pre-pregnancy. I have found my speed has decreased a bit as I have got larger but I put that down to being less streamlined ;)
