A pooh thread im afraid...

Right its a bit weird and im not sure why, but let me explain, bailey was poohing an awful lot, every half hour or so and his bum was so sore and bleeding cos of it, anyway last week he was having mixed breast and formua feeds, and he was still poohing alot around 6 times a day..

however since i have stopped his formula feeds on tuesday.. he hasnt gone for a pooh, all hes had is breast milk.. i thought breastmilk makes them go so im a little worried.. we are going into day 3 without a pooh..

there is stains of pooh but only 1 a day and its not cos hes had a pooh its cos hes trumped

to go from a lot of poohing to nothing, should i be worried..

when i was both bf and formula feedign alice, she didn't go for a few days, and my HV said to try some cool boiled water. seemed to do the trick with her.

but hes now breastfed only has been since 11 am tuesday, so i would have thought he go by now.. i was told by hv not to give him water yet.. as all his fluids he needs are in the milk do you think i should then.

so long as hes weeing i wouldn't worry.
if the poo is black or green then id contact your HV though as this COULD be sign of malnutrition

hes having plenty of wet nappys, thanks budge..

and the colour is yellow so all is well then uppose just need to wait till he poohs properly

yep! sounds ok to me.

breastmilk is such good stuff that most of it is used up in the babies body and theres not a lot of waste from it. Its quite common for some BF babies not to poo for up to 5 days (i had two such babies). So don't worry.

i have just switched from breast milk to formula and hes been a bit constipated and ive been giving him boiled water and it seems to be helping

When Kiara was a baby she wouldnt go for 7-10 days at a time i was so worried i took her to the hospital and they gave her a supository to make her go, but the doctor said its normal for BF babies to go a week without a poo and its okay
