Hey first time mum here! I'm a bit of a dilemma. I have a 6 week old girl who spits up her milk after every feed then demands more I suspect reflux as she hard to burp and looks like there's a bad taste in her mouth was prescriped infant gavison and told to go on comfort milk. The past 4 nights she has done nothing but cry uncontrollably all night and will only sleep on me as soon as she is put down she cries seems to start at 10-10:30pm and lasts all night till about 7am when she decides to sleep in her basket. She sleeps the day time no bother waking up for feeds. I've been to the doctors as the HV advised raditine but the doctor refused to put her on it being such a small baby and she's gaining weight good.
Could she had a bit of colic? I keep getting told to let her cry it out but to me she's to young and I don't like that idea esp when she gets herself so worked up she holds her breath. Sometimes falls asleep in the middle of crying her heart out.
Do I feed her when she demands more food? I'm worried she'll get use to always getting more and that it could be really upsetting her stomach. Should I try the anti reflux milk instead? The comfort milk and gavison dont appear to be any thicker than normal milk. Sorry if my post is all over the place!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

This sounds like my daughter (now 3) when she was going through a growth spurt. Wanting more milk but then throwing it up, back to wanting more. How long has she been like this, since day 1? I remember it was 5-6 weeks my daughter went through this as OH had just gone back to work and it only lasted around a week and she was much more settled.

As for her not sleeping unless being held, she needs to learn it's safe to sleep the night in her basket, have you tried white noise? We've got Ewan the dream sheep which our boy (4 weeks) seems to settle with. I also read the other day to try and settle them in their bed before picking them up when they cry. Singing/stroking their face/rocking.

We're also using infacol for colic, he has 1-2 hours of being unsettled of an evening around 7pm. Have you tried infacol?

What bottles do you use? We used tommee tippee with our daughter who was sick lots, and was always pained. This time we've got MAM anticolic bottles & our 4 week old is rarely sick and is a lot easier to burp (most of the time he doesn't need much of a burp.)

Hope you find something to help soon! X

Thank you Starchild for responding. She wasn't very good at feeding when she was first born took her a while to get the hang of it. She was using the ready made Bottles with disposable teats from the hospital she now uses tommi tippee Bottles and have started on the anti colic ones. I tried infacol and didn't help.
I brought her a owl that has a night light and has white noise, heart beat and waves which she has on every night and will stop after 20 mins and start again if she cries but has never settled her. Last night she settled at 4:30am till about 6 in her basket. This morning she has woken to sounding like she has a cold/cough and spitting up alot of saliva so I'm unsure if the unsettled nature the past few nights is actually due to her being unwell.

How long did you use infacol? We gave up after a few days with DD but have been told it can take up to a week to work.

Have you tried all the settings of white noise? I've noticed my son likes the womb sounds but not the washing machine sound.

Maybe she's a little unwell yeah. I hope she's better soon. They're too little to be poorly aren't they, it's heartbreaking. We're in colic hours at the mo OH currently handling it but it's simply a case of riding it out as nothing really works. :( It gets better! X

You should ask your hv to refer your lo to a lactation consultant or failing that you could go private. It has the signs of tongue tie and particularly if she had problems feeding at first. Is she a noisy feeder? Clicking, gulping or sloshing sounds? Does she leak milk at the side of her mouth, display signs of discomfort during feeding eg raising her hands? Tongue tie affects the way baht moves milk in their mouth and their ability to swallow efficiently which causes wind and reflux symptoms. Is she able to take much milk at once or is it little and often? She might be crying because she is in discomfort and hungry.

The nhs are not good at diagnosing or dealing with tongue tie in my experience so don
