My baby is 9 days old and he's sleeping for about 4-5 hours in between feeds, there's not must conflicting advice about whether to wake them for feeds or not.

What do you guys do? xxx

It is longer than most will go, but everyone is different and it is only a problem if baby is not thriving. If he is gaining weight well then it's unlikely to be an issue and you should enjoy it while it lasts! People only usually wake for feeds if baby is losing too much weight (we had to and it was horrid, so I definitely wouldn't recommend doing it unless you have to). If you are worried then mention it to your midwife/HV at the next check.

My LO always went 4hrs between feeds in early days. Only decreased to 3hrs for one week around week 17 for some reason. Always gained weight well and stayed on same percentile. HV will be checking weight in early days anyway so any problems will be flagged up quickly. Like Maud says enjoy it:)

I think they say as long as its not longer than 6 hours at that age and gaining weight its ok. Mine fed every two hours round the clock for about four months so definitely enjoy it lol. If you're baby is lethargic though ring docs straight away, like floppy arms etc.

For the first week the HV told us to wake DD up if she went longer than 2 hours to make sure she was gaining weight. It was a nightmare! To wake her up we had to strip all her clothes and nappy then rub cold flannels over her. I'm not sure I'd do it the same way this time as she often only had a couple of minutes feed before falling asleep again.

If baby is gaining weight ok I'd leave them to sleep.xx

Ds1 went 4-5 hours between feeds from day 1, I just left him to it. Babies will eat when they're hungry :)

Meant to add earlier, she soon settlled into a much more frequent routine of every hour or two, sometimes for an hour so I'd enjoy while it lasts :-) xx

Whats his weight gain like Colleen? Id try to go max 3 hrs in day and leave them as long as they like at night then you know they are getting the 6 feeds in in a day xx
