Lying in bed this morning, my 3.5yo decided to hide from his Daddy so dived under the covers and banged his (rather large!) head full force onto the bottom of my tummy/bump. It’s been really sore ever since with period like cramps and I’m getting the odd tightening which I assume is BH? I’ve said I’ll give it until 8am and if it’s no better I’ll call someone. But I don’t know who’s best to call, doctors or midwife? Im 14+3

Could you ring 111 for advice as it’s out of hours? Baby is very protected in there but always best to be on the safe side.

Hi Hun, if you haven't lost any fluid then you should be okay, but is always a good idea to speak to your midwife and maybe you could get an appointment with your doctor. Ate you still cramping? Did/have you lost any liquid/fluid? You can always ring 111/a&e number but they will most likely say come in for a check up.

I didn’t think of 111.
I’m pretty sure baby will be fine as they’re so protected, like you said. Nothing lost as yet but I’m still really uncomfortable and crampy :/ xxx

I agree with the 111 suggestion but just wanted to say I hope that everything is okay (I am sure it will be!!) but also that you are feeling better soon. The worry is real isn't it with pregnancy? haha xx

If you're experiencing pain or bleeding I would call 111 or your MW but I think baby will be fine. I slipped in the snow and fell on my bump a few weeks ago and he was fine. Listen to your body hun xx

I called the midwife and left a message at 8.30am, I’ve still not heard anything back.
The cramping has eased off but I’m still quite sore and uncomfortable. I’ve been doing some washing and cleaning this morning (same as every morning) and had to sit down to try and ease it off a little as it started to feel a little crampy again.
I don’t know if I should try calling the mw again, or wait a bit longer. Or try someone else? Xxx

I'd say if you are feeling cramps try and rest as much as possible because that tends to help with cramps. And drink plenty of fluids. I took a couple of good knocks to my bump from my toddler when pregnant and everything was fine but I understand your worry.

Thank you for all your replies :)

Just thought I’d update you all.

Midwife called back this morning, it seems they’ve had problems with their phones so she only just picked up my message.

She asked me to come in this afternoon instead of my appointment on Friday. She’s so lovely and reassuring, that I really didn’t feel silly for calling. She offered to listen in to baby, and found a lovely strong heartbeat straight away :) which was fab considering I’m only 14+5. Definitely put my mind at ease, glad I called now. Xxx

glad all is okay!
I had a similar thing where i'd walked into a door frame holding a tray, the corner went straight into bump!
very sore and bit bruised but they seemed really relaxed about it as they're so protected, still doesn't stop us worrying though I suppose! x
