Hiya
i had my 34 week check with my consultant this morning and i didnt know what to expect as both my other babies were early because of pre eclampsia. they did my blood pressure 3 times and i thought  oh no not again but it was 140/98 then came down to 126/84 which isnt too bad as iv had high bp since the start of my pregnancy with a baseline of 130/80.
i was measured and at 34+5 weeks i measure 37+6 weeks!!!
so now instead of them being worried about preeclampsia they have referred me for a growth scan next week to see why everythings all of a sudden ballooned i had a scan at 29 weeks which showed harvey was an average size baby. i think its just coz im a bit of a chunk to be honest! :rotfl: but its better knowing!

has anyone else had sudden growth like this in the last tri? and what came of it??

I think a few people have been sent off for growth scans because of the fundal height voodoo rubbish, and the scans have shown babys size is fine

they had mentioned it b4 but werent 2 fussed about it so i thought nothing of it but they mentioned it again 2day and decided 2 send me 4 a scan.
my other 2 were ok throughout its only this one....thinking about it i had a scan 5 weeks ago which showed him 2 b the right size and in proportion so maybe im just worrying over nothing.

Glad your not showing signs of PE.

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Like MM said the fundal is a load of voodoo so i wouldnt worry.

i wouldnt worry too much about fundal hieght like the others said its normally not that accurate

My LO is a biff if my 34 week scan and Registrar are to be belived. My MW says otherwise. TBH all they are doing is referring me back for another growth scan at 39 weeks if I've not popped.

As to if our LO is a biff baby, I'm not reading much into the scans. TBH its hard to get decent measurements at this late stage and as my MW pointed out this morning LO's tummy was probably measuring big (38+5 at 34+5) as s/he had swallowed lots of fluid so had tubbied up for the scan.

My Doctor talked induction and so on if baby continues to show large (I'm overweight also) but I'm not listening to him  My research tells me that natural labour is better all round over induction even for a suspected large baby. And my MW said so long as the head comes down, baby is coming out :)

Drop me a PM if you want to chat more about it all :) I've bored people enough in 3rd tri about the joys of biff baby carrying so won't repeat it all here again

My hospital doesnt go in for growth scans for overlarge babies even though I was measuring 7 cm ahead as apparently the error margin is 25% either way - with me though this is my fourth baby so they can make a cerrain judgement from previous baby sizes whereas with a first timer a scan is helpful

my midwife was just told to stop measuring

corr 25% is a lot!!!!
this is my third baby, the baby was average size at the last scan so it must just be me rather than him that is measuring off for dates. i am a bloater :rotfl:
Anyway thanks for the replies ladies :) im not too worried about it now.
its good to have this forum so we can get advice and words of wisdom when we r worried.
cheers, sarah. x x x

i measured 35cm at 32 weeks but im not woried as my MF wasnt concerned at all.

seeing her again tommorow

dont worry to much as long as baby is healthy and happy being biff is not a bad thing.
My anti natal lady said big babies are actually easier to give birth to and more likly to stay in postion as they dont have as much room to turn in the wrong way.

sarah

ive had a 7lb 10oz baby and a 5lb 7oz baby and i agree that my first (7lb 10oz baby) was easier as i could feel that i had more 2 push out although his head stung more as he crowned. my little girl was more difficult as there wasnt so much of her but her head was so dinky compared to her brothers that it didnt sting at all when she was crowning.
after reading that so many mummies have had the fundal height differ so much im not worried at all anymore.
