Hi

Because of my PCOS and sudden disturbance of cycles I'm having a 21day test next week. My GP said that it didn't matter if my CD21 landed on a weekend as you could give or take some days.

My test is on my 21st day exactly and so I should be ovulating now, but I'm not (neg opk, no symptoms). So I'm wondering how many days you can "give of take"? I've read of people ignoring the 21day rule and going in 7days after ovulation but that wouldn't work for me as I've not worked out if i'm actually ovulating!

Many thanks :)

My first Day '21' bloods were done on day 29 as my cycles were irregular! After my first month on clomid i was having them on day 21 as I was oving on time. If you are opking I would let them know if you havnt ovd yet. I was able to delay mine but not sure if your able to do the same? xx

The day 21 test is based on a classic 28 day cycle where ov is on cd14 so the test is done 7 days later.

A lot of women don't have this 'classic cycle' and should have the test done 7 days after ov so if you ov on day 21 you would test on day 28.

If you haven't ov'd yet or have irregular or long cycles carrying the test out on day 21 will only show what you already know ie you haven't ov'd yet. The point of the test is to find your progesterone levels after ov. Might be worth chatting to your GP as if you are ov'ing but later in your cycle the test needs to be done later xx

I've had day 21s 5-9dpo as my ovulation wasn't the easiest to spot and always told then when I went for results what dpo it must have been based on when af arrived. They've made allowances, for example if it was 2 days out and just under 30 that's a good clear sign of ov.

The girls are right though that doing day 21 if you don't have a 28 day cycle is pointless as it won't show anything. It's a common misunderstanding of gps though, I've seen it a lot on here.

Thanks guys. That's a bummer as I don't know if it will be obvious if / when I pvulate to go in 7days later. I wonder if I could go in every 7 days until AF arrives?
